I love the rifleman. I like the story and look forward to the release. I need to start using other than assualt mechs to improve. Thanks for bringing that Mech back to life.

"I blew off your 1 leg now you dead!"...............really? Like brah do you even BT/MW? And no a 28 point alpha would not destroy that leg of the Victor even with the crash. Nice try though, was entertaining although the ending was far too quick and Mary Sue-ish for my taste.

Hmmmm looking at the tech readout 3025 VTR-9B, IS for the legs are 17, Armor at 20
Understanding that the VTR could jump about 120 meters, the airtime should be sufficient for the rifleman (LL/AC5s) to preformed the reduced alpha strike and continue firing the autocannons.
LL=8 damage 8x2=16 subtract around 4 points of damage for the initial miss = 12
37-12=25
AC5=5 damage 5x2= 10
10x3= 30
10x2.5=25 (aka 5x5)
25-30=-5
25-25=0

Understanding the victor is 120 m in the air, with a tonnage of 80 tons
Time to fall is 4.95 s
While lore doesn't give us the autocannon cycle time(differing manufacture), if we go by in game, the cycle is 1.68s
4.95/1.68=2.9464 which is close enough to 3 and definitely more than 2.5
Thus, we can safely assume that victor's leg is gone. The toppling over part could be a result of a faulty neurohelmet, pilot shock, pilot inexperience, or many other factors.

This fluff story does ring of Mary Sue, but lore wise, is relatively correct.

Edit: Twilight Fenrir does give a most excellent point. The armor is distributed, thus all 20 point of armor would not be in a single spot, leaving the rest of the leg exposed, +1 to you sir.

I had decided not to get the Rifleman due to the fact that the Jagermech is a step up but the work here on the lore and the nostalgic feelings it brought up are tipping the scales in the other direction.

Noton backed away just in case Hoftsteder hadn’t yet realized he’d lost, then he played to the crowd by raising the barreled arms of his Rifleman into the air, a titanic gladiator excepting his due from a rapturous audience.

Hmm. Something's wrong here.

Cool, I was wondering whether this arena shooter had some kind of backstory.

Very nice! I wasn't familiar with Legend Killer at all, and had been too lazy lately to look up the lore myself. Thanks for filling us (me) in on some of its background story. If we are going to have more Famous 'Mechs coming in the Classic Collections, can we have more tasty morsels like this? Maybe even some about The Black Widow and Bounty Hunter?

It may not follow the lore 100% but it's a god looking mech and they are trying to get them online. I guarantee there will be changes there always is. love it and can't wait.

Good looking mech....fingers are slower than my mind

More of this.
Game needs more lore, have these descriptions in-game too. Like under mech-info.

Totally agree! Love such background stories and mech info for that matter. Add stuff like that in-game, and it will be interesting for new players to learn about the different mechs they might want to get.

Good read, I've missed the back-story provided with past mechs like that of the Highlander & such.

They didn't have 2x armor in the arena like MWO, Victors have relatively low leg armor in most [non-MWO] builds (20+34=54), another post above shows the maths.

It's entirely possible he nearly blew off the leg, the fall finished it off, and the rules said if you are clearly beat then you're "dead". The way it's written, he still could have retaliated. If you ever played MW3 multiplayer, you could 1v1 a much large mech if you could knock him down & maneuver behind him. I forgot which weapon did this at close range, but I trolled ppl all the time with that cheese build.

I hope you're joking, because everyone knows MWO isn't 100% lore-accurate.

Good story, I remember the solaris game set. Oh wait! Is this a surprise for us for 1 vs 1? If not, PGI is dropping the ball on such a release. Perfect "mech" for the "lore" of solaris with release. One can only hope. If you haven't thought of this yet PGI, this is your time to RND and kick something out in a few months. Otherwise I will be disappointed in a wasted marketing gimick.
