I certainly don't hate the game. Not at all. Just frustrated with what it's become.

As you say, time to do something else. If the game changes for the better, I'll probably be back.

I think you may overestimate the population base. MWO can't afford to lose even a few hundred active players.

I think you misunderstand slightly... ;)

I'm not saying "go away", I'm saying "go take a break" and stop attempting to leverage the threat of going away and turning your attention and wallet to another game.

Using the attention of another love interest to spur jealousy only works in dating... :P

"I'm not saying 'go away', I'm saying 'go take a break' and stop attempting to leverage the threat of going away"

Nah. Thanks but I don't have Battered Wife Syndrome. When I am done, I am done.

And I agree that leveraging the threat of "I'm boycotting till they change their ways!" is lame. Wouldn't pull that nonsense, as a point of principle. So perhaps your analysis is wrong.

You should also consider the old Customer Service adage - for every customer that dumps you in a fit of public drama, 10 more are leaving over the same issue without saying a word.

I want to play Assault and Conquest, they need to be at least 60% of my drops. Skirmish bores me to no end. If mode voting stays and I am continually forced to drop on Cold Skirmish, I will find a more intelligent game to play.
I want chess and Skirmish is checkers.

I paid $3000 for a new top of the line computer SOLELY to play Mechwarrior. In the 10 months I've been here, I have already spent over $1000 on PGI. I am as loyal a customer as they come. Willing to forgive almost anything to keep this game alive. So if you lose someone like me, you might as well just get it over with, declare bankruptcy, and start on another shovelware scam.

Until PGI starts flashing the lights and say "LISTEN YOU NOOBS!1! WE WILL DO THIS AND IT WILL STAY LIKE THIS AND I DONT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT ANYMORE!!!" People will fight because they will believe they can still change things. Everyday, new people appear on the forum to state their dissatisfaction and that gives more fuel to burn and fight.

oh you mean just the game? ok ill be one of those exploring a wasteland for the next week at least. I can't quit the forum though, it's far more entertaining than the game right now.

My poor Fenris, you would be the third generation of "vets" that get told to go find another game and quit, see where this has gotten us. Good loyal customers have been pushed aside more than once here. Ive mostly never agreed with those last vet who left so far and was pretty happy with how things went. But right now i can fully understand them. I just dont want you to think you're special or anything.

Tonight I played:

Final Fantasy 8

I started a play of it a couple weeks ago, and honestly have more hours on it then MWO since. Example, I played zero matches tonight. I haven't played FF8, since I bought it in 1999 and played through it twice. It has been a fun diversion so far, but it is nearing the end(almost disc 4, just need to go get Eden)

I have been playing MWO daily(unless not possible) since I started in beta.

You can complain about all the "I quit" threads OP, it is the forums and you can voice an opinion.

But

I am not the only loooooooong term vet here that has been looking at other things for the first time in years now as taking "first place" over MWO for game time. I know it is getting worse, I got dropped into a tier 3 match ON PRIME TIME NA(I am tier 2) couple nights ago. I logged off after a selfish round of seal clubbing.

Paul best get his **** together soon on his PTS stuff. They better hot patch in the reduction in map choice stuff for voting.

They better do something. Maybe they are sitting on enough cash to keep the servers lit up for months yet, I dunno. But the population is going down, not up, and releasing this to steam will only give them a couple months if it survives the reviews. I am sure the sale of unseen mechs has given the illusion of a steady income to them. The whole situation feels akin to the houseing bubble, where everything is just being moved along, and suddenly, it won't anymore and people will be left wondering wtf happened. I waited a decade for a new mechwarrior, and I don;t want to see it get trashed and disappear. I want to see it get better, and thrive, and bring a whole new generation of players into it.

We will see tomorrow if I log in to play gibwarrior or turn the ol' playstation back on.

Except PGI literally listens to the biggest whiners. Why do you think "ghost range" lasers are no longer being pushed into production? You think PGI came to their senses on their own? It was literally a butt-load of players complaining and saying it was bad mechanic. So I hate to say it, but empirically speaking, the loudest whiners are the ones getting changes pushed through.

Actually a lot of us put a decent amount of feedback into the PTS forum and the consensus was that the 'ghost range' as you dubbed it (or as others have) was overall a bad mechanic. It over complicated lasers in a way that was both unnecessary and could cause potential balance problems in the future when more weapons were introduced. Plus it would have made a HORRIBLE mechanic for new players to come into.

I would actually like to hear some people's experiences with FO4. My suspicion is it's gone the same way as every new-generation RPG... 10000 miles wide but 6 inches deep.

The exception to this amazing blanket statement being Dark Souls (and its slightly lesser brethren)

Which is basically the Dark Lord of all RPGs and shall never concede its mighty throne

Wait, this game has a large enough player base that we can tell people to leave if they don't like cold skirmish???

It has a large enough player base that it is unable to support both map voting and allowing players to choose the game mode they want to play.

"It has a large enough player base that it is unable to support both map voting and allowing players to choose the game mode they want to play."

Unless you want Skirmish. They are actually getting more of their preferred mode than before. While Assault and Conquest fans are on the way out the door. The result will be an even smaller player base and a return to longer wait times, only difference is you will be waiting waiting waiting to drop on HPG Skirmish for the 10th time in a row.

Think people will get tired of that? Sure, but when Steam hits, the Steam players will be the new majority, and they will learn that Laser Vomit on Cold Skirmish is the meta. I almost feel sorry for you guys.

Solution is to make all maps random and all modes random. That way everyone gets some of what they want.

I would rather not play skirmish if i can avoid it, but I would be willing to play skirmish 33% of the time(preferably less if we could get a new game mode or 2), if we went to a completely random mode and map selection to speed up the matchmaker. Right now, skirmish is just so frequent, I just don't want to play it 2/3 of the time or more.

Great... A brand new [ Insert new hotness here ] is on the cusp of release and its got promissory of being the next best thing to wet t-shirt contests.

Go play it.

Good lord I hope everyone who plays MWO has some other form of diversion and entertainment in their lives. I hope whatever new diversion is absolutely stunning... I really do. I hope this to be the case so you'll be less inclined to carp over PGI not folding to your incessant whining and tyraids of injustice.

I'd like to think this is just new(er) players who have seen patterned history and think the way to get their way is to grouss the loudest... Sadly I'm seeing as many ensconced players attempting to ply this tired ploy as vigorously.

Seriously... take a break and dive head-first into that new diversion.

... I beg of you.

No thanks. I can multitask just fine so it really doesn't pose a problem for me to do other things while also pointing out my frustrations with what the devs are doing here. Don't like what others have to say? Then maybe you should take a break from the forums... I beg you.

The old system wasn't all based on random map and gamemode selection Imo. It may have been tied around matchmaking. I believe gamemodes were weighted evenly like the maps if you had all gamemodes checked.

I had all modes checked. My winning ratios were close to being the same on all gamemodes. It was pretty much even across the board with map drops as well. I was always prepared to play on any map and gamemode.

Now all this has ended with the new voting system. My winning ratio has not changed but the map and gamemode has in a big way. Skirmish drops are now 40% more than conquest and 25% more than assault.
