Victor will never be good until they fix SRMs and make them deadly again. The arms are too big and far apart to be worthwhile from afar unless you're running a Dragon Slayer.

the reduced spread and buffed velocity proposed for pts4 might just do that

I'm pretty confident than some of the agility quirks are in response to the reduction of the mech efficiencies.

The 9S (according to what was posted in this thread) though seems to be crazy dakka bound though...

That still won't fix the bad hitreg.

The reason I don't think speed increases will help is... PPCs go much faster and still have huge hitreg issues...

One of the big problems with Victors is how easy it is to hit the left and right side torsos. This was not addressed so will still be a problem.

Also besides the 9S the quirks are not really very good.

VTRs toros have never shrunk nor enlarged. And yet, pre "antipoptart" nerfs, they were considered very XL friendly. I've been running a totally "locked" Trial VTR-9S on an Alt Acct for Ed Steele's "What Mech Challenge", and have found this to still be very true (though like any mech without uberquirks, clan mech focus fire brings it down pretty quick).

The reason for this, still and always has been the STs are not huge, like on a Cataphract, they simply aren't tiny... but the ARMS still are as massive as ever. While the VTR are getting hit with the same 17.5% twist rate quirk as every other mech with the changes to Efficiencies, they do get a "+40% Torso Yaw Speed", giving them a net 22.5% twist rate over current.

That is pretty substansive for being able to spread damage. Especially with the +30% Accel/Decel and 40% turn speed leaving it one of the few mechs that still will be moderately agile in class.

lol wut? arms give you the best pinpoint accuracy in the game... something torso mounted weapons cannot do. are you playing the same game as us?

The new Victor is going to be good. The only thing I think it could use is some structure to the left/right torsos, so please post that in the PTS 4 feedback.

Throw max JJ's on it and spread that damage all over its legs/mech with torso twisting. Looking at the patch notes, all mechs will be slower in general all around, and the Victor will be the most agile and mobile 80 tonner in the game, and it will be near impossible to leg it unless your under focus fire.

Sure and I call it like I see it... Victor hasn't been worth using in a looooooooooooong time.

That we can agree on. All of my Victors have been collecting dust since, well, forever. If it gets structure buffs to make its torsos tougher it will be competitive again.

Another fail....

Who shoot VTR legs when the ST are easy to hit as an AWS' and most VTR's are XL mechs...the leg quirks are very dumb and another perfect example of PGI not understanding the issues with there game or the mechs.

What... our balance master has decided Victor legs were the meta counter...

Remember, Trebuchets was once a meta according to him (in a Vlog).
