As we all know the learning curve for this game is off the chart. We not only have a tactical robot battle simulation, but we also have a mechlab. I could easily imagine a new player playing a few matches and then spending some time in the mechlab, wasting all his hard earned c-bills on a "bad build". Then going back into battle and getting ripped apart after which he quits because the game is frustrating. We don't want that to happen!
So here is my suggestion. We should have some sort of mentor-ship for the new players. We the old warriors that have the patience and time, can put our self on a list of some kind. That would identify us as some one to contact if you need help with learning the game. We could even have a mentor tag or title in the ingame chat window to make it easier to see who to ask for help. I myself would even be ok with helping a group of new players in the mechlab and then running training matches. 12 vs 12 with only one or two mentors on each side to help point ppl in the right direction, and give some tactical advice.
This I believe would do a great deal in keeping the new players from quiting because the game is complex, and even better make them into long time fans like us
