In the upcoming Nov. 17th patch there are going to be some changes to the voting system.

Take a look,

Map and Mode voting will now be weighted.

Each time a player votes for a Map or a Mode that does not win, their vote weight for the next time goes up by one (maximum vote weight is 12).

Each time the player votes for a Map or Mode that wins, their vote weight returns to 1.
If a player does not vote for a Map or a Mode, then the weight for that category remains the same.
For groups, now only the group leader votes. For anyone that is in the group but is not the leader, the Map and Mode buttons are disabled. Also the Map and Mode selection of the leader will be seen on the other group members screens. The vote weights of the leader will also be seen on the group member's screens.

Voters are now allowed to rescind their vote by clicking again on the item (previously they could only change their vote to another selection).

Percentages are now based on the votes cast rather than the total number of possible votes (e.g. if only one person has voted, then the percentage would read 100% rather than 4%).

What do you guys think? Personally I think this has a good chance of fixing all the complaints about map & mode voting.

Let us imagine that you want Terra Therma Conquest. There are 23 other people in the queue who want Skirmish/Assault (majority), cold maps (majority). Let us say, 80%.
Now, you are randomly presented with three maps (the random element is not gone, it is just messed up now). Three cold maps.
You sit out. Your vote goes up by one. Some others vote for Assault/Skirmish and cold maps and did not get what they want. Their vote goes up by one.
Rinse and repeat.
In the end, we get a large portion of players wanting Assault/Skirmish and cold maps and you with your constant insanity of 3 cold maps to choose from.

Finally, after 5 matches, you see your Terra Therma and Conquest. You vote for it. Others, with the same amount of the vote weight vote for their maps. Again, you lose.
You are faced with three cold random maps again next time. Your vote goes up by one.

Now, do not forget that you have the majority people who would sit out for 24+ games and vote for a cold map and Skirmish "just to" unintentionally annoy others. They get their cold maps every time anyway; so, they will sit out with ALT+TAB until a match starts. Every 10-20 matches, they vote. They have a big advantage over the rest 20% who love other modes or maps. What an excellent solution from PGI! Thank you!

After three hours, you finally may get your map and your mode. 20 other people want Skirmish and Cold maps. They are capricious now because they know they get those every time. Will they contribute to healthy playing?

Why would things go as complicated with three random maps and modes if what could be done is just randomizing everything? I know it is better for me to have a mode selection, but would not be a random choice even a better solution if PGI (note: not players) wants "faster" queues?

Abolish voting system, please.

Solutions:
1. Revert changes to pre-voting.
2. Make everything random.

If a player does not vote for a Map or Game Mode, their vote weight for that category remains the same.

Thank you for the correction! You still will be presented with maps that you do not want usually to play, sit out, and not get anything; while others will grab one of the three just to play something cold fast. These players who will lose the vote will get one voice up. You will remain on the same level.
That still is very bad.

I think the changes are mostly good, except the group voting only allowed for group leaders..

As far as I know, the MM can match saaay, 3 groups of four with one group of 12, and then the big group gets 1 vote and the little groups have 3 votes combined.. don't know how that's fair..

Gonna be open for exploits..

1. If the votes of the other players are displayed (which seems to be the plan) this system is completely borked.
Example:
I want to only play cold maps and skirmish.
I vote for those two, but see early on, that skirmish/cold will be winning anyway.
I change my vote to hot/assault
My vote-weight goes up.
I do this, until I suddenly am in danger of actually _getting_ hot/assault or hot/conquest.
Now my high-weight-vote _stays_ for cold/skirmish --> cold/skirmish I get.

2. The new system is needlessly complicated (never a good thing, KISS applies here too), having to keep track of every players votes and results of said votes.
Just have the outcome randomized, based on the votes. 60% voted for Frozen City and 75% for Skrimish?
You have a 60% chance for playing Frozen City and a 75% chance to play Skirmish.
Of course that´s such an easy solution (unless PGI is willing to just do away with the whole voting thing and randomize everything, which would be even _more_ simple), no dev in his right mind would go for it :)

I agree, to prevent gaming the vote ppl shouldn't be allowed to see what others are voting for.

IMO, the changes have been good. It's almost hilarious watching the vote bounce around as ppl try to game the system. The supposed exploit has become it's own counter.

I don't care about the map. Hot, or cold means nothing to me. Game mode has to Skirmish. I kamikaze out in less than 3 minutes on conquest or assault.

I know longer pay, or play. It was a good game until this voting thing. Multiple polls on this forums say that 75% or more of players want it removed. Have fun guys

Looks like most ppl still dislike voting. Probably because they have to play every mode, including the ones they don't like.
