Seeing that King Crab with Phranken, does that mean that this mech will finally have all the retro camoes for it unlocked?

I really can't believe that the Gauss build for the whale won.

Seriously, PGI asks for newbie friendly builds for the champion mechs, and you try-hards voted for a meta build instead.

A new steam player would have much more fun in a dakka whale. Gauss is not new player friendly, at all. It isn't like they'll be torso twisting between shots.

I would have gone ERMLs in the ACH side torsos, 1 less heatsink, much better long-range poking. It's a good build though.

Loss: Increased to 25,000 (from 20,000)

As I said previously, the goal of a match is TO WIN!
Not to get more kills, not to get more assists, not to destroy more components but TO WIN!

You should get a LOWER amount of C-Bills (if any) from a Loss!
You win, you get payed, you lose, you get nothing except all the other C-Bills.

IMO, on a loss, you should get ZERO C-Bills, but because that's a bit extreme and we can have lots of QQ on the forums, I wouldn't suggest that, but I'd suggest a 5-10k C-Bills AT MOST from a loss.

Increasing the amount of c-bills from a LOSS is just against the whole idea of the match.

Nice builds and even nicer is the fact that they will be available as trial mechs.

First time player drops in trial Direwolf...

"WHY WON'T MY GAUSS RILES FIRE? I KEEP PUSHING THE TRIGGER AND IT DOES NOT SHOOT, IT JUST MAKES A STUPID SOUND!!!"

There's no in-game mention of the charging sequence.

I wasn't paying attention to this change when I went to do CW last night and found the trial Banshee was no longer an option...

I found the atlas is too short range and too hot for many CW maps, it will be a great brawler, don't get me wrong but it runs pretty hot.

The King Crab is great! Heat is exceptionally manageable and ammo should be sufficient for most one-wave scenarios. Just remember that you have a *very* wide stance which means you have to be careful about being behind teammates and shooting them in the back by accident or obstructions blocking your fire.

Man, I have to say I think the current set of Champion options is pretty great. For new players it'll offer a lot of variations on play style. Sure sure, the dual gauss Dire Wolf thing draws angst, but new players aren't dumb, and once they figure out they need to hold down the trigger, it's still really viable (I don't recall trying it more than once before it clicked that I needed to hold)... and they damn sure won't have any heat issues with that build. Reality is, new players in Dire Wolves are likely to run out and be bullet magnets, so a setup that encourages them to hang back a bit is probably a win in some respects.

Overall though, neat builds... I'm tempted to run around in some in trial mode.
