Here is my idea: Info gathering on multiple targets for "scout mechs".
Why I propose this solution: My view is that most features should be additive to a mech and differentiation should focus on positive additions to make game play better. This lets mechs feel different and encourage use but does not remove value from mechs one has purchased.
The problem: Lowering range on detection for assaults is not a good solution. It will annoy players and make your crowning jewel mech stink. On launch the idea was that an assault was the apex mech and players would fight to get them almost a day of real time to get one. So do not devalue your big player keepers and money makers.
The solution: There are two.
-one: Let "scouts" see further into ECM. No major changes to anything else but let them see into the bubble better. Thus they scout. This solution also deals with how powerful ECM is in CW blocking the size of the team. (you could even let the team "see" but not target like seismic)
-two: This is my favorite idea for information warfare. Let the "scout" mech share all mechs they see longer then a given time. (like above it could be seismic signals except for the locked one.) Or they show mechs close to their target as well. something like a circle of shared info.
