Seriously, why?

There's a light mech in the game that tanks more damage than multiple assault mechs for months and all it got was a small structure debuff on its upper half.

It is LITERALLY faster to 2 leg a fully armored Atlas than to take one leg of a Cheetah.

Takes half the shots (would say damage, but 50%+ simply doesn't register on a Cheetah) to kill an entire lance of heavies and/or assaults.

I guess they need to squeeze the last bit of profitability and get as many customers to buy it before they finally concede to fix (nerf) it.

Whatever is causing it, they are ridiculous. It might not be a simple hitbox-change that fixes it but please do something ... anybody who plays against an arctic cheater even ONCE sees they are borken.

Because the arctic cheetah's hitboxes are fine - not much different to the Wolfhound, Panther or Firestarter. They're not what make the arctic cheetah so tanky.

It simply has the advantage over other humanoid lights in structure quirks, a clan XL engine and ECM. The inner sphere lights either run a standard engine and have a similar tanky profile - but are slower and easier to hit - or run an XL, avoiding a lot of damage with their speed, but dying more often to side torso loss. Cheetah has the best of both, speed and side torso loss survival along with the added advantage of ECM. The fixed jump jets cut down tonnage available for firepower but it still packs a decent punch for a light.

All they could do with the hitboxes is make them oversized i.e. lager than the actual model itself - probably not an ideal solution. toning down the structure buffs might be a better start.

If the Cheetahs hitboxes were fine it wouldn't take 300+ damage worth of alphas to drop one. It can face tank longer than a Direwolf because damage just vanishes into the netherworld when you shoot it.

And even with its +15 or whatever leg quirks - I've put 4-5 and more 7 MPLs cycles into an armorless leg and watched it only go red. 200+ hp on leg internals - or bad hitboxes?

There are few mechs in the game that I despise and the Arctic Cheater rules supreme over all of them, even the Firestarter. Most of the time it is a gamebreaker. It is simply too good and there are too few ways to counter it. Unless someone wants to play a useless Ninja sniper and picks a Raven, there is literally next to no reason to pilot any other light mech but the Arctic Cheater.

As a unit of course we use them extensively because they are so good, but it is unfair and unfair elements eventually ruin games for everyone involved. It is PGIs job to make sure the game is balanced, not ours.

There's a video that made the rounds showing hitbox testing on the ACH and they're pretty spot-on. It's hitreg over the network that is the problem.

Cheetahs suffer from the old Spider syndrome... whatever you did to fix the Spider should be done for the Cheetah.

Personally I also think hitreg on this Mech and other Mechs of the past whom had issues is the main problem... but hitboxes should always be inspected... who needs Clan Mediums when you can swarm Cheetahs that carry the same amount of firepower and move almost twice as fast?

Cheetah's take damage fine, but a combination if small profile, thin arms/legs, good tight hit boxes and speed make it very easy to spread damage all over the mech. CXL then insures that it doesn't die as quickly as IS lights and quirks stop it's legs falling off.

It should lose the leg quirks and Clan lasers could do with the range nerf from the PTS. Then it would be balanced
