Wolfhounds Builds?

What are the actual most viable Wolfhound builds for all variants?
Should it mount XL Engine or not?

The 1A I run as a zombie brawler: Std210 with a LPL in center torso and 3 ML, plus AMS.
The 1B I haven't settled on. I am trying to utilize the dual AMS to make a dedicated support build for shadowing the assaults. ATM: Std200, 4 SL, and an ERPPC, 2 AMS and 1.5 tons ammo, and a Beagle. I tried running all medium lasers/pulse lasers but nothing felt right. This is more fun (I like ppcs). Could run a regular PPC but, meh.
The 2® I run with Std210, 5SL, 1 ERLL, a Beagle and AMS. I tried the stock build but over heated too much. If I stick with the PPC build above, I may turn this into a poor person's firestarter and just run it with small pulse lasers.
As you can guess I try to stay close to the pack with these builds and if an enemy ECM mech gets too close try and take it out or at least harass it so as to cancel its ECM. The WLF-1 is only build where I am willing to try scouting or stalking enemy lights given its speed (145kph). I tried XL in other builds than the 1, but died way to quickly. This mech seems to always get focused on the right torso so taking advantage of its zombie ability just seemed a better use of the mech, thus the std engine for most builds.

I've been running this and have been getting great results. The Wolfhound seems to be able to take a standard engine without cutting firepower. It's a beefier, gnarlier firestarter. (I can't speak for how well it does at higher tiers though)

I haven't thought of it like that, perhaps it plays similar to the panther?

In the 2R and 1 I'll attack multiple opponents and if it gets too hot I'll run away. the 1 with an xl315 and elited is one of the fastest mechs in the game and can still sport 5 ml. Good Cheeto or Firestarter build and its 50/50 1v1, most other lights and mediums end up trying to run for help and well, rarely are they fatser, I can catch most even when they have JJs
Bigger engines have more internal heatsinks so require way fewer dhs.
Wlf1 Xl 315, 3 DHS, 5 ml, adv. zoom, radar dep, uav, airstrike, and both ml modules. Endo and FF. 160.3kph, heat 1.34
Wlf2R Xl295, DHS 1, 1 ERLL, 3 mpl, adv. zoom, radar dep, ERLL range, MPL range, uav, airstrike. Endo and FF. 150.1kph, heat 1.28
Wlf1A Xl275, 6 DHS, 6 ml, radar dep, both ml mods, uav, airstrike, Endo. 140kph, heat 1.33
Wlf1B Xl250, 2 ERLL, 0 DHS, BAP, adv. zoom, radar dep, both ERLL mods, uav, airstrike. 127.2kph, heat 1.42.

WLF-1A: XL280, 5 medpulse in torso, 2 shield arms, 10+2 DHS, max armor everywhere except arms (can take armor from head to arms, if required, but I dislike random headshot deaths). 1.3/2 heat efficiency. Endo-Steel but no FF. (I actually refined this further during the writing, so with FF you get 1 extra DHS by taking some armor from head, arms and legs - or you can max out armor).
This thing can tear bigger mechs apart in surprisingly short time, and takes a lot of punishment. I've surprised happy Crabs by actually having MORE weaponry than they do, while still being faster, harder to hit and capable of taking almost as much punishment.
This one doesn't exactly go by the number one mantra of light mechs, "speed is life", but it's not slow either.
I don't think it competes well in killing other lights, but it can hold it's own against most of them. What it shines at is killing bigger mechs.
