I have the 3 BT hardcover corebooks and keep them with rest of my gaming books in the hobby cabinet. For years I have not touched them until recently I pulled them out for reading and appreciation again. The books are made of glossy papers and while they have a quality sheen, I noticed several pages were stick together. I had to slowly peel them apart - Some words were "pulled out" and stick/transferred to the opposite page. Some are just so bad that a patch of page were peeled off. I treat all my gamebook collections like treasures and really felt the pain when I heard the tearing sound. This has never happened to the rest of my books. I wonder if there is a safer way to open the pages that are stick together.

Sounds like a little bit of humidity damage. It also depends upon the paper type (gloss has a lot more problems when the gloss layer degrades).
Not much you can do about it except rifle through the pagescevery year or so to keep them aerated.
