So, what was the best of all the MW games? Can't say this one coming up, because it isn't out yet.

You're all probably going to say MW3, but I think MW4 Mercs was the best, granted some of the coding and such was weak, and yes, it didn't progress relatively much compared to the last few games, but damn, it was a fun game. Great story, so much customization, etc.

What do you guys/girls prefer?

I'd have to say MW4 Mercs is tied with MW3 for me. It's been too long since I played MW2 so I can't say anything about that.

MW3 has always been my favorite. I like the ability to setup my mech any way I wanted to. Not that MW4 & Merc's was bad, I just wasn't keen on being limited on what weapons I could use in certain spots.

I was actually glad they had that put in, to prevent FrankenMechs.

EDIT: Game balancing also, we can't be letting LRM, PPC, Gauss, or Laser boats roam the field, among other things like AC-2 shotgun 'Mechs.

MW3 is/was my favourite. It looked nice and the 'Mechs "felt" heavy. MW4's hardpoint system worked well, but that game just seemed unfinished and not as polished as MW3.

I'd have to go with mechcommander 2 personally, I really loved the RTS style without the burden of having to manage a base

MW3, although MW2: Mercs ranks right up there as well.

Although, if some company wanted to do a remake of MW2: Mercs in CryEngine 3 or Unreal 3 (4 when it releases), they would become my new best friend for life.

I am going with MW3. I may not have had some of the stuff MW4 had, but it just clicked. Like the craters it made with missile impacts and the ac recoil....and not to forget the Zone. I know MW4 you could do MP from the game itself and the lobby was filled with games; but I do not think it was the same.

MW2 was my favorite. I loved the music and clan lore from the game.

Well, I never played either of the MechAssault games, but I have extreme doubts they'd be my pick :P Also never played anything prior to Mechwarrior 2. Neither did I play Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries, the first MechCommander, or the virtual reality pods... Although there's a group that has them set up somewhere here in Dallas Fort-Worth, so I may have a go at it with my brother someday.

Now, all that being said, my vote is a tie between Mechwarrior 2 and its expansion pack, Ghost Bear's Legacy. MW3 is a fairly close second; it had some serious faults. The campaign was way too short, enemy AI was crap, it only had two music tracks(***?), and the missions were too easy overall - although this last issue was definitely OVER-rectified in its expansion pack, Pirate's Moon. But, it got a LOT of stuff right... it had the best sense of Mech scale out of any MW game so far, autocannon performance was perfect, terrain was realistic, the whole atmosphere was incredibly immersive, textures were nice and detailed(and with the expansion pack you got to see actual weapons damage on your targets), the "feel" of the missions was just right, the command console was great fun, and it had some of the best voice talent in any game period(the guy playing the MFB Commander was awesome). MW2/MW2:GBL was the best, though; the sound effects, the music, the multiple environments, the strong "Clan" feeling that permeated the whole game...

MW2: Mercs...gameplay was far superior and it actually had TT ammo values to prevent stacking 3 U-AC/20's on a Mech and nothing else.

MW4 Mercs is my favorite because of it's story and the Solaris announcer. I also liked the story of MW4 Vengeance but i found it lacking in other areas. I will always have fondness for MechWarrior for the SNES, it being the first MW game I ever played.

not to disparage your opinion if you're not being sarcastic, but I truly hope you're being facetious...
