Well it appears that they have finally got around to doing the monitors in the cockpit.

So what other "place holders" need filling in before the steam launch?

My vote goes on the Skill Tree. Please, please do something with it. Drop the 3 variant requirement and make it a tree.

NB. assuming ghost heat and balance is ok as a new player is not going to notice those things too quickly.

Yes, the Skill Tree definately needs work.

If they could AT LEAST fix that damn convergence perk and exchange it with something useful.

If I would be a new player and realize that one of the ELITE perks doesnt do nothing, I would laugh my ass off and leave. Because it just lacks professionalism and shows how the developers take care of their own product.

Its like seeing parents pretending to be sophisticated but their child is full of bruises and dirty.

The less obvious building sites we have on steam release the more likely it is people will stay.

Thinking on it I will now refer to the current skill system as the "Skill Bucket" as all we are doing is filling it with the water of the Mech XP.

What are they doing with those monitors? I do not follow Twitter or Facebook so I am in the dark as to what is planned for it unless they eddited the roadmap again.

If we are talking about placeholders then I think they should fix the C-AC and give the LB-X the toggle it needs for cluster or single round. I do agree that not needing 3 mechs of a chassie to unlock elite and 5(?) before mastery should be changed.

the cockpit monitors: http://mwomercs.com/...ckpit-near-you/

Really I would be happy with any sort of tree in the skill bucket

Which One Thing Needs Fixing Before Steam Launch?

Maybe the whole futur weapons and sensors balance and ECM rebalance could need it when it will be release in early december...
And all others features which need a fix since they were release first time... friendlist, multiples UI popups, voting system, hitbox for many maps ( vitric forge first ), hitbox some some mechs ( specially when you take rear damage .. ) stupid dropships sound, CW factions populations issues, bad Factions contrats rules, how CW is useless too, how coffers are useless too...

 Well in fact real topic name should be :
Which Thing Don't Needs Fixing Before Steam Launch?

Weapon ordering in mech hardpoints. It will confuse the hell out of new players.

Chat (seriously...)
Skill tree
Match score mostly just counting useless damage spraying instead of actual win contribution (effective damage, caps, etc.)

Probably a thousand more painful things, but those three came to mind immediately.

Not enough time to fix a thousand things.

Atleast some people are being honest providing some actual facts once this game goes live on Steam by leaving a honest review behind.

I appreciate that more then anything else right now.

If i would name a thing: expanding the NPE.

I can see the chat thing. But I think skill bucket is more pressing.

The rest of the suggestions are important too but not replacing place holders. Rather just poor mechanics

Chat.

Skill tree is already being reworked in PTS. Cockpit monitors are a coming soon (see thread)

Chat is the most frustrating feature of the game.

The one thing that needs fixing is the tendancy for PGI to go for a stupid convoluted system that no one wants in answer to whenever a handful of idiots moan about something because their mech got killed.

As far as I know the skill bucket has simply had its bonus's reduced it is still a bucket not a tree.

That's it.

Chances are they will be too negative and Russ will just ignore those. You know that, right?

The one thing that needs to be fixed? Only the "game" :D . But seriously, a small PVE mode, maybe some survival horde mode where you can play with some friends would really help. Let them have some fun with their friends before getting frustrated by the steep learning curve. A little refuge where new players can recover if MM beats them down.

It must be the skill tree. It is the only aspect of leveling in this game. You want casual players? Then you MUST give them a reason (no "great gamplay" nor Pokemech is a sufficient reason) to keep them coming back for more. Something to give them that "oh just one more game and I've made it!" type of experience, to keep them wanting to keep playing and of course spending.

I don't care if it is the three variant mastery, the old pre-nerf bucket/tree or something new and improved (unique tree for each weight class, each chassis, each variant, etc.) but you must have something to give the experience of in game advancement or leveling or casuals will not be interested long term (or even short term).

Roadrunner Warhorn (Meep Meep Ricochet) for Locusts. That would be all and I would be happy.

:P
Chat and skilltree too ^^ And perhaps some new Locust variants. :P

A new skill/pilot leveling system would be great, but that's certainly going to have to wait til after launch since I'm sure it would take some time to develop.
