sorry, little confused. The pink bar is that supposed to mean the size of the mech that it should be, or its at the optimal height already, or something entirely different ?

He's saying the Marauder is undersized, compared to the 'Average 75-Tonner' mark determined by averaging out pixel counts amongst existing machines. it's the same chart people used to argue that the Nova is twice the size it should be.

Given how much flak Piranha gets over...everything...I don't really blame them for erring on the side of small with 'Mechs like the Marauder. What would this nasty toxic playerbase have done to them if the thing was Krab-sized?

So the black knight and Marauder at 75 tons have near identical pixel counts.

I'd say they're moving to smaller frames.

So once more we get a slightly under-scaled 75 ton heavy. And its a heavy thats also really iconic. Fascinating.

A shame though that its hitboxes will still spell death to anyone using an XL in it.

So their recent trend continues. Makes older mechs even more obsolete.

So... what I'm getting out of this is that the Catapult still needs to be rescaled.

Is this another thread where we conflate volume and density? :D

So all the other mechs in this game are massively overscaled? Get to resizing stuff PGI.

would have preferred taller, skinnier and less booty. But it is what it is. At least in a few of the "action shots" on the Countdown, it actually looks OK... and funnily enough, a fair bit like the Reseen Phoenix Version. Well, a lil more like the Marauder II/IIC

of course, it's an optical illusion, because the torso is waaaaay longer, but still, it's there.

The mouse in my pocket, and because the minute I login to the forum, I lose all sense of material science and structural engineering, much like many others.

One has to wonder why and how PGI allows such discrepancies in sizing.

I can understand the older mechs such as the Orion being bigger than its counterparts in the 75 ton category, but looking across that chart really makes a guy go: "wtf" ??? I mean really, the 80 ton Zeus is smaller than FOUR of the 65 ton mechs. That is 15 tons difference in weight. So what is off? Those four 65 ton mechs or the 80 ton Zeus?

The Catapult and Nova both really could use a re-scale, and the Centurion and Victor as remodel (bring in the shoulders and arms!)

The 100 ton and the 55 ton mechs are the only two weight classes that are similar. The ton class is really FUBAR'd, the Clan Kit Fox is literally DOUBLE the size of the 30 ton IS Spider.

If anything besides volume mattered you might have a point, but a mech that is half the size of the others,in it's tonnage category is going to be relatively much harder to hit. Volume matters in the game and density does not. To achieve some semblance of balance all the mechs in a tonnage category need to be pretty close in volume or you wind up with mechs being much "tankier" than equivalent tonnage mechs due to smaller size making it harder to consistently hit one component.
