I've been having lots of fun in my Cicada 3C lately, and I was wondering if it is considered "Meta" amongst top tier players. I know Sean from NGNG uses it with 1 AC2 and a PPC, but I prefer a PPC and a bundle of machine guns.

It's pretty anti-meta, honestly. Sean Lang from NGNG avoids meta like the plague most of the time. Meta right now is gauss, large lasers, large pulse, clan large pulse, clan medium, and lots of "Tier 1" mechs. This should help you a little to understand what makes a "meta" mech: http://metamechs.com...meta-tier-list/

Not even close. Certainly not after the balance pass. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, and it's a ton of fun, but no, it's not meta.

PPC's do very little damage for very high heat, and MG's do crap for damage and have no range.

It's a large 'Mech with poor hitboxes and armor.

It's actually considered one of the worst mechs in the game by the "tryhards".

BTW, i love mine too

It's not meta.

It only wished MGs didn't stink outright.

I use mine with 2xAC2. Maybe one day it'll be more than a novelty :)

No CDA is meta....

But the Loyalty one would have been a sweet addition back in the poptart days of old.

Novelty is the dual AC/20 and slow as worms.

Ah the Boomcada nothing says MM fail like when you get a kill with one on Alpine and survive the match.

@OP: The 3C will never be meta, that said it can be a lot of fun. As for Sean using one, well he is a Cicada lover and like the rest of us Cicada lovers the meta be damned, we will have fun in our overgrown light 'Mech.

3C is a fun mech and a joy to pilot - but is in no way meta.

It being not-meta is actually one of the things that make it fun! :D

I love Cicadas, I have the 2A, 2B, 3M and Loyalty all mastered and play them all regularly, but even I'll admit the chassis has glaring weaknesses (light in a med's body, all CT, lanky legs, etc.) that will prevent it from being meta (without jumbo quirks of course).

1E 4B is epic fail. No amount quirking can make that competitive.

I'm going to give the OP the benefit of doubt, and assume this is not a troll thread :P. No, it's not meta -- in fact, the CDA-3C frequently comes up in discussions about the "worst mech in the game".

Now that said, it's an immensely fun mech. Super fun to run with ~max engine, that crazy-quirked ERPPC, and 4xMG. The dynamic geometry pass moved the ERPPC up to the torso roof, making it really great at peek-and-poking. It's even keeping those ERPPC quirks in the rebalance.

In short, it's a hard-mode mech, but well-loved by those who know better (aka. the Cicada master race).

Sean Lang is, I believe, a full-fledged Cicada nut.

I absolutely adore my cicadas, I own the 3C, 3M, 3F and 2B. I haven't played the game for a while, and am kind of out of touch with the "competitive" side of the community.

And I know what the current meta is :P.

I guess the purpose of this thread was more to see what people's opinions on the mech was, and that's been accomplished.

I'm glad there are other people that like the cicadas, for some reason I just have so much fun while doing well in the 3C, and no other mech gives me that.

(Cicada Master Race indeed.)

I'll enjoy the sweet quirks on the 3C for as long as I can.
