Haven't played steadily for a few months now and thinking about just selling my account, game's getting way too stale. I have an alt for funsies that I could use afterwords if I ever felt the need to come back.

Is selling your account to someone else illegal?

Not illegal no. But it's against ToS and your account would probably get closed if found out.

Hmm. "illegal" would be against law. For this game tos is the law. If no one knows, no one will enforce anything...

make sure to cash in before the ban though...

Well that's not to say I will sell this account, was just considering it and wondered if it was illegal.

Won't be selling now! That said, not giving PGI any more of my money. I'll go waste it on EA's $50 Battlefront DLC which is actually just the other half of the game.

It's not illegal in the criminal sense, but it is illegal in the civil sense. PGI has forbidden this practice with their property. If you do, they can delete, ban, etc. the account.

It would be similar to you renting an apartment (because in this case you don't actually own MWO, you own access to the game and servers, not the game itself and basically rent the game) Yes, that's extremely simplified and no, I'm not going to go into real specific detailed information, just trying to give an example here people.

You can't sell an account. You won't go to jail, but you can have the account completely and totally deleted, user banned, etc.

Fallout 4 is a much better investment. Not perfect, but worth my 60$ tbh. Battlefront 2 is much better than Newfront.

Thankfully, the "open beta" EA had for Battlefront was all it took to convince me to keep my cash in my pocket. Too flat, too stale, too same-y. Utterly uninspired. Been playing through Dying Light instead.

It occurs to me that simply gifting the account to a friend that happened to be gifting you with say....30 tacos ... on the same day isn't covered in the TOS.

Back when I played WoW with my brother, he got paid like 5k gold to essentially give up his character's name. 5k was a lot at the time. So he did it and didn't have to worry about paying for enchants and whatnot for the rest of that expansion.
