make an opt out swear filter and apply it to everything. seriously what year is this? punishing people for swearing in a game? thats like making it illegal to breathe air. the oversensitive crowd can keep it on, and the rest of us can switch it off. it would also greatly reduce the number of reports your moderation staff has to deal with.

and dont say it wont work. people like me who like a little bit of lively banter in my game (and im more offended by report trolls than the f bomb) and can respect the filter should not be punished. reports stay in but they are used to improve the swear filter. sombody reports an offensive word of phrase, then that gets added to the filter (you dont hold their creativity against them). people who intentionally exploit the filter (for example using substitutions to get through) would also get marked and delt with. intentional insults should also be punished. dont take away my banter.

I guess because it's a parody of "Russ Bullock".

But yeah, it's pretty hysterical to censor things so much. Several of my posts in this thread were removed, they were all about censorship from a free speech and secular humanist standpoint, using some IRL examples. No idea what was controversial about them, but apparently that's "off topic" or something Posted Image.

Anyways "on topic":

My position is that only things like blatant racism, personal threats and harassment, incitement to crime and other things like that should be censored. You should never ever censor thing based on the "offended" sensitivities of this or that cultural subgroup because it never ends if you do.
