Hmm, looks like I forgot a zero...

Well you now have over a week to prepare and this has been a drill for when it comes (and hopefully not prematurely this time).

I know, i really don't see the hate.. this game is by far the best pvp experience of any of the mech warrior titles.. I know there are people that liked mech II, But come on, the number of mechs that were viable was super small. PVE in mech 1 and II, where the good parts.

Mech III, arguably the worst of all of them.. Legged in seconds and game over. the PVE was great, but pvp was a total joke..

Mech IV, the pvp was decent, But outside of a couple of mechs, you were at a severe disadvantage. good luck in that raven coming across a dashi.. the pvp worked, but it is very dated at this point.. and honestly i never thought of it anything more than average. Was fun, mainly because it was mechs.. but compared to other pvp shooters, it was pretty lacking

To, me this is the best pvp battle tech that has been around, though i will say i did not get into mektechs, mods and such.. so maybe they were magic and mech Iv was incredible, but i think it was more of good for the smaller people that just had no other options around, not to mention you needed a win 2k rig to even get it to work. (maybe XP did too, but vista or later was a total no go)

This game to me has just gotten better over the last 3 years.. I really don't get why people that hate it stick around. The last thing i would ever do, is play a game i didn't like... I got 100's that i love.. Why on earth would i spend a second playing something i didn't? Heck, i'm still stuck on my crusader kings II Convert all of great Britain to Irish/celtic with a tribal king! A game that i've spent over 100 hours on that one play though... But for some reason i just can't find the time to finish it.. and it's just getting good.. aka just hit the year 1000 mark. Stupid Mech warrior and their events and patches and additions!

Maybe someone can enlighten me, on why anyone would play a game they didn't like.. To me thatsjust completely baffling.. unless you are some sorta sadist, and are not happy, unless your miserable?

I'll give the game an honest review.. for how i see it..

A fun game, great with a group of friends, and even fun for casuals.. Could use some more unique game play modes, and I can't wait for the pve to hit.. But over all, it is a fun mech game that fills my Battle tech needs.. To date, the best BT shooter, that lets you play a light and have a chance too! It's not pay to win, and with sales, you can get some pretty great bargains. Over the last 3 years i spent 100 bucks, and have had nearly 1000 hours of fun. It may not be perfect, but i find it enjoyable.

A whole bunch of great stuff.

Just got to say though, I got win7 right now and can still run MW4. MekTek packs or stock game on any one of the 3 in the series.

PvE really was the great part of those games though, the PvP was there, but honestly all I really remember from it were mechs poptarting from behind a hill with one shot kill pin point alphas. I'm talking like dual gauss triple PPC monster type of stuff that takes your Atlas down instantly. Even more so with the MekTek packs which added railguns and plasma cannons and heavy lasers and upgraded PPCs, and loads of mechs to put them on that could also manage to get themselves over a mountain with their jet packs.

I'm thinking the only reason people are mad at balance here is because it actually does change from time to time.

It's coming in 9 days and there is NOTHING on Steam about it.

Also, Steam doesn't have graded reviews, it's either thumbs up, neutral or thumbs down.

People actually pay attention to steam reviews? Weird, no one I know does, and everyone I know uses steam exclusively for PC games (excepting stuff thats only on Origin or whatever).

Edit:

Steam won't do big ads for stuff unless the publishers pay for it, or it's a big enough title that having it is a boost for steam (i.e. fallout 4).

I'd be surpised if MW:O got a full size front page ad on the 10th, I don't expect to see much more than a small banner thing in the new releases list.

A friend of mine was trying to decide on a free to play game to try yesterday and stopped after seeing the horrible reviews on most of them.

Honestly there aren't that many good free to play games on Steam that are even near the level of this game.

When MechWarrior Online left open beta I gave It a 7/10. Due to time passed and missing or unfinished features and the direction lacking any sort of immersion or atmosphere, even working against an enjoyable game play experience, at the moment its a 6/10.

The combat and mechs are still the best but like the reviews given Star Wars Battlefront, its not enough to make a complete game. I still think this can be the best online game going, but at this time although a lot of improvements and additions have been made, it is lacking in many areas.

Hopefully there is a surprise or two before the end of the year making this the must have game it deserves to be.

Luckily the competition is extremely weak or inept or just down right throwing money into the wind, so I expect MechWarrior Online to do very well all things considered. There really isn't an alternative for online battlefield action that can compare to MechWarrior Online.

There are quite a few that are better (in the sense of more finished): Warframe, Path of Exile, Team Fortress 2, DotA 2, War Thunder, etc.

Warframe is PvE, TF2 has lots of old players who are bored and looking for something else, DotA 2 is a moba, All I ever hear from my friends who play WT are complaints over how bad this and that are and how it took them *only* 3 months to grind to the next jet. Path of Exile I have no experience on though.

So far the two closest games to MWO in that list are TF2 for being a shooter and WT for having vehicular combat. MWO seems to be standing up pretty well as different than the rest.

Perhaps win 7 does work.. At the time i tried it, i only had vista, as my win 2k system was down.. (still is, but i have a new HD for it! so maybe i can go play the classic single player again)

But thanks for the confirmation on the stuff they did add

Get real... a 'mixed' or 'negative' rating will shy any self respectinf consumer... that and metacritic ratings....

Some masochists will still play poorly rated games for the lulz...

I plan on giving it a good review. I get burnt out on map from time to time but I still come back to it. I'm still playing it and I'm still willing to spend money on it.

The good far outweighs any problems I have with the game.

Is there even something like marketing for MWO on Steam? It is one weak and I received nothing from there. Somebody at PGI marketing should take a hard look at their marketing strategy. If they want to reach new people they have them come to the game they have to advertise it.

Yea ...no.

Anyone who actually has any common sense will at the very least look at if the game reviews tag is overwhelmingly positive, positive, negative or overwhelmingly negative.

Not everyone. Some people just like the games they like!

I know one I play is rated "Mostly Negative." but you know I love the damned thing. It involves putting holes in deer and that's the only clue I'll give you! :D

Sometimes they just don't matter. If someone won't TRY a game they at least think looks interesting these days, then they've only themselves to blame when all they consume is the same big publisher crap. The same publishers who let the Battletech video games languish, decide that Survival Horror was dead... but I digress.

On modern internet connections it takes minutes to download any F2P game. Take 30 mins out to make your own mind up. All you have to spend is a little time.

Astroturf is n9t going to help this game. Fixing its design flaws will. Best be honest. Call what is good, tood and what iw bad, bad without sugar coating it.

The public will learn the truth soon enough.
