Will the name I picked for my forum user name be my ingame name? Will I get the chance to create a different name for my ingame avatar?

It is your pilot name, same as the forum name.

i do believe your forum name will be your in game name as well,

Yerp.. 99.9% sure this is confirmed... though I think there was mention of being able to change it before live.... though I'm not sure how..

no I like my name just fine, friend of mine asked the question. I was just looking at the sign up an it ask for Pilot name, so i'm guess it is indeed your ingame name.

I am in the same boat as OP .. I didn't think this forum name would carry over. It's never been like that for any other game i've played. But, i shouldn't jump to conclusions.. Now i hate the idea of this as a pilot name.

When you originally signed up, did it not ask you to "Reserve your pilot name now!" ?

That's what it said for me when I signed up.. so I assumed from that, that it would be my pilot name..

YES.

It was in the Ask the Devs a while back. Will be the same.

That was exactly what it asked, so don't know what the mix-up is...

Don't worry, you'll make people feel terrible when they're killed by a Mechwarrior with a name such as yours.

I am pretty sure I saw one of the devs post that they will be linked, have to go find that now.

I can't imagine that you will never get a chance to change name later. In the worst case they might make you pay a name change fee.
