Yeah the mech is worth buying, if you like to chase quirks. 25% energy range is pretty damn good. Add to that 40% accel and decel for peeking, and 20 structure bonus for each torso for tanking, it is pretty buffed.

Try 6 MPLs + 3MLs with Std engine too.

It's my best hero mech. If I was you I wouldn't run an XL on a tbolt.

i xl most of my mechs, it might not be the best way to build them but i prefer speed over tanking damage as a general rule

That's the fun part about the TDR-5SS and TDR-TD; you can get speed, firepower, and durability on a STD engine.

According to Smurfy, MPL and ML ghost heat are not linked together. So theoretically you can alpha 6MPLs + 3MLs. Decent damage, not as hot as your build, and you can have Std 300 engine for extra tankiness.

I think I'm running a 300std in mine with 3 large and the rest small lasers.
You spam the small lasers when you get into brawling and the large are good for range fights with the quirks.

This gives you a more balanced mech. Without getting murdered close up.

I am running an 8 ML TOP DOG with a 315 STD (max posible) and a whole ton of double heat sinks, with the 25% energy range it feels like you are running an ERML Hellbringer, only tougher and more precise due both to quirks and IS ML having shorter beam duration. Makes an excellent second line brawler and poke master.

I had a 3 LPL Top Dog in my drop deck for the range quirk and those super high mounted energy mounts. Not heat gen quirk but it lasted me a whole CW match last night netting me almost 800 match score. In pub queue I was running 3 LL and the rest mediums.

TOP DOG: 2xLPL, 5xML, STD275.

At the moment, the TD is quite possibly the best hero mech out there.

I run my Tallman with 8MPL and a STD 300. I fire them in two groups of 4. Its pretty disgusting, I love it.
