I have two LBX10 setups I really like, the IM triple and the MAD 3R Twin. However, I realised that the MAD twin is far superior to the IM Triple in the way the two guns are so close together that when the pallets fly, they largely overlap each other into one huge LBX20 shot reaching out to 570m!!! Firing all 3 LBX together on the IM is a waste due to how far apart the guns are resulting in an unnecessarily wide spread of pallets. So far, I even found the Twin LBX10 to be superior to a single AC20 due to the extended range! So far, having tested these setups extensively, I am getting 3.2 KDR on the twin LBX but only sub 2.0 with every other setup, including the triple LBX and the AC20 MAD.... basically, this is one setup I had very low expectations vs my AC20 setup but turned out to be more effective for the MAD due to relatively lower speed, making closing in with the AC20 quite a hard thing to do.

So, LBX Marauder is working out for you? That's wonderful. What's your tier, BTW?

I ran a twin LBX/ twin PPC MAD-3R for a bit (with a sluggish STD 260) and it was powerful up close (even a bit giggle worthy), but had so many drawbacks I just decided against it. PPCs had min range yet LBXs were suboptimal over 300m due to the spread. When you run in the 50kph range, that narrow engagement window is difficult to work with.

Now I could run twin LBXs and MLasers and run faster, but ehh. LBXs are uninspiring to me. Despite how far they reach, you really do need to be within A/C20 type ranges for it to really deliver the damage. If I need to be within around 300m for an LBX to shine, I'd rather run a 20 for pinpoint than a LBX20 (twin) for spread at that range.

BTW, if you still want to run dual LBXs with a PPC or two, let me recommend the Catapult K2. Great PPC quirks and the dual barrels are close to each other, but in seperate torsos so you can run an XL. It is 10 tons smaller, so it won't be fast either, but it will be a bit quicker. There is also a Jager that would work better too.

lbx sound best ballistic sound ingame. always a blast to hear them. Espeically if you have a clanemch with 2 lbx20. POW

Speaking of which, a 6 LBX2 Direwolf with a macro sounds terrifying and awesome at the same time. I don't think I'd run it, but it sounded insane.

Never consider it. You will get probably two kills at most, and then all the ammo will be gone.

From the guy who actually ran it.

>try to use the LBX-20
>it does pretty much nothing most of the time
>test it in testing grounds
>fire at the stock HBK-4G on forest colony at 150m
>6 shots later and it still hasnt breached the CT armor

Even SRMs are better than LBX now.

This is really the only reason I run lbx cannons. Oddly it is truly the coolest sounding ballistic.

Otherwise they are only useful if you have a mech with high mounts and 70+ kph speed because you don't want to fire those things over 200m.

2x LBX gives you 2x garbage.

3x LBX gives you 3x garbage.

In terms of longer "engagement range," the LBX's huge spread makes it actually suck more than usual when it gets up to around 300 meters or so. Your pellets are going to either miss the target completely, or spread out all over the target uniformly. LBX only "works" in very close quarters.

A note in terms of your speed is that you could install a larger engine if you swapped the 2 LBX for an AC/20 or even just a vanilla AC/10.

Best dual LBX mech (IS) to me is the Quickdraw IV-4.
Often gets ignored, because, well it is a Quickdraw. If you manage to get in close or behind the enemy and then open fire with those cannons, even Dire's will flinch. If you can do this near the end of a match you will have more crits and components destroyed than you ever dreamed possible (I rarely have the patience to make this work though, that and I feel guilty hanging back).

With the 30% ballistic cool down, plus cool down module, the rate of fire is just awesome and the sound, especially when jumping, is havoc embodied.

I ran 3 LBX on the Ilya before. It falls squarely into the "fun and slightly effective" category. Works exceedingly well on maps like Tourmaline, where you can get in close to the enemy before blasting away.

Competitive? Hell no. But I'm tier 3, the hell do I care about that?

EDIT: Also, it sounds badass as hell when you start rapid-firing them too.

I ran it for a while. It is a feast or famine type thing. If you are good at positioning and can get in close you will annihilate people. If you can't get close you are in trouble because it is just ineffective at over 200 meters or so, except chainfired for suppression.

If you ever get the Bounty Hunter MAD, I have had great success with 2 LPL, 5 ML, LB10X, 4 JJ, xl300.

Chose the LB10X because I didnt have the extra ton/slot to spare for the ac10 ( got another DHS instead ), plus the mech runs a little hot so the LB10X is less heat. Works very well.

I think I would at least consider this build. A trade off (A/C10 for LLasers), but I think the loss of 2 dmg for the LLaser (vs LPLaser) is acceptable when you are going to a pinpoint ballistic vs the scatter of a LBX (plus you can add a little extra engine).
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=348&l=734890f1e67df4996e2dc6a868d4a590b2b5d1fa

I was also able to config a LLaser version (instead of LPLasers) with one less JJ, but a STD300 with 2 rounds ammo and a 25% cooling efficiency. That's still hot, but I think your build was marginally better at 26% if I reproduced it right in Smurfy.

Just some options.

I guess a twin LBX10 Orion 1-V would also work the same. Since you need to be close, you don't have to worry about them being high mounted. Couple that with SRMs. Hmmm. It would be damn slow though.

The problem is spread at range. 250m is really the optimal range for a good tight grouping.

I was hoping that the Cauldron Born was going to be able to sport two LBX20s. I knew from the listed specs on the preorder that it wasn't, but I still hoped. That would be nasty.

Pack on Twin LBX + Ultra/5.
Dubbed "IKBoSy," the Illya Killya Balls of Steelya. In two different hands (mine, filmed by Lordred, and Lordred's).

If you're looking for tighter shots, right arm + right torso for the LBX's. I keep mine wide as an anti-light "go screw yourself" setup while keeping the precision of the torso mounted UAC/5 for range.
