Personally its a what ever. My unit (Templar's) didn't play it the way we did last time around - we just focused on the personal challenge part. I'll give the clans some props, they made a really good last push. Before that, there were many point where IS had the % below 50 for hours. And you can't really say: it's the top merc groups that won it for the clans - why? Simple; IS pug groups were still beating those pre made teams.
Just from what I saw: Clans had a 3 to 1 drop rate ratio. Clans overall only had a 1.5 to 1 win ratio (maybe not even that high for the clans either).
I agree. I do not think that the 'elite' premade groups won this event. Most of the big units dont field more than one premade that is actually really good. They might have one or maaaaybe two good premade groups and the rest of the 200-500 members just play exactly like pugs, whether they group up or not (I mean no offense here, I dont consider myself pro either). And despite what people seem to believe even the good premades have to sleep at some point.
A small issue for this event certainly were the game modes. Imho both defending on counter attack and attacking on invasion mode are by far easier than their counter parts if you just want to win (you can either sit in your spawn or just suicide the objective). A lot of the big groups in the last two hours of the event did exactly like that. And this leads to the last point: In terms of winning the event 95% of the matches were redundant. What really counts is who has the planet when the time runs out. So basically whichever side organizes more premade groups (of almost any quality) against pugs on the other side in the last hour or two will win.
The event does not and can not represent the state of balance between IS and Clans in units or technology. That being said, congrats clanners, wp.
