Be An Ambassador To Steam Players

The really good news about the recent PSR sort, however, is that there are a lot of solid vets that got sorted into Tiers 5 & 4. Tier 3 players will represent the elite that new Steam Players will be facing (insofar as you assign any meaning to PSR beyond that of an experience bar, so let's not have that fight here).
So, for all of the Mechwarriors that are going to greet our new arrivals, I ask you to be an Ambassador for the rest of us.
Don't troll them.
Offer advice.
Encourage them to remain after they die and be your co pilot so they can ask questions and learn.
Encourage them to complete the tutorial, for training and free cbills.
Offer useful mech purchase selections that will allow them to use a variety of systems in solid representative chassis, maybe something like Raven/ACH, Enforcer/Hunchie/Stormcrow, TDR/Timbie/Hellbringer. Stay away from assaults for the cost expenditure for now.
Encourage VOIP.
Invite them to public TS3 channels to learn the game in group queue.
Encourage joining a unit.
Look. Those of us that play still love this game. Encouraging some of the influx of new players to stay and become regulars is the best thing that we can do for the longevity of MWO. Please, put aside any cynicism for a while and let's try to share something we enjoy with new people. The rest of us are counting on you. <o

Lol, yeah. I was focusing on big picture stuff, but help them with the basic mechanics without screaming at them over voice comms or text chat. Again, point them to the tutorial.

also way too many T1 material is stuck in T3 and T2 due to not having done laods of games since PSR introduction.
One of the first things is when you are the one surviving and the other newbies failed by simple mistakes you often don't have time at the end of a match to tell them. And wihtout any chance to add them to friends directly from the scoreboard or whisper them outside the match when you forgot their name it's hard to give any advice.

Seriously, it's easer than explaining about armor and structure upgrades, XL engines, case or minimal distance lrms and ppcs.

Yes. You can only play within two tiers of you own. Tier 3 is the lowest tier that 5s can face.
More importantly, you can now add friends from the scoreboard....that was added a couple of patches ago.

To everyone: friendly reminders are always good. Being snide, rude, and snippy is not ever acceptable. Take the high road and be the better person regardless of how frustrated you are.

Make sure to spread the word in game, as well, guys. And if someone is being obnoxious, explain how to mute them in voip, rather than turning it off entirely.

<me>: since it's a heavy mech and can mount more weapons than a medium mech
<whatshisface>: thanks, I think I'll try that
Notice I didn't call him a noob or anything bad. That's the way to go.
