Here are the stats MARAUDER MAD-3R(S) 11 5 6 0.83 11 6 1.83 4,334 14,630 01:03:58 MARAUDER MAD-3R 11 5 6 0.83 11 6 1.83 4,334 14,630 01:03:58 MARAUDER MAD-5D 14 6 8 0.75 13 9 1.44 4,047 15,995 01:40:34 MARAUDER MAD-5M 16 7 9 0.78 9 14 0.64 6,156 14,569 01:22:09 BOUNTY HUNTER II 15 7 8 0.88 14 10 1.40 7,241 22,489 01:36:57

So since I have them all basic'ed I find myself finally giving a review. First off looking at the numbers I either have been in horrible teams, playing with my fellow unit way to much, or not carrying hard enough with the win ratios (highest .88 lowest .75). The actual mech which refers to the builds I have more so is the K/D. The highest k/d is 1.83 and lowest .64 ... to be honest I still am struggling to find a good build for that 5M.

Next item to look at is damage per match, so:
3R variant ..... 394 damage
5D variant ...... 289 damage
5M variant ...... 384.7 damage
BH2 variant ..... 482.7 damage

So with that you can clearly see I am a damage machine in the Booty Hunter (Bounty Hunter or BH2), but the 5D is just not putting out the damage. This has more probably to do with the builds I am using and the alphas. So lets break down the builds next:

3R:
3 Ac5s
4 Medium Lasers

5D:
2 ERPPC
3 Medium Lasers

5M:
2 Ac5s
5 Medium Lasers

BH2:
2 Large Pulses
5 Medium Lasers

The closest mech to meta build is the BH2 because it is all energy build but then again it is IS and not greatly quirk'd so you will not find this build as a meta build in true. The 5D though has the lowest alpha out of all of them hence why lower damage per match, but then it still has a decent k/d so I think this mech build I probably key more on what I am aiming and shooting at then blind firing.

As for the feel of the mechs ... well they feel like they are heavies, as in not that agile. But they do have an alright speed and ability to torso turn which allows me to spread the damage. All builds are also STD engines so I do not have to worry about IS XL popping. The last thing I have to say about the mechs so far are that if you do not have them try them out when they go for C-Bills they might just be the mech you are looking for.

What are your opinions?

If you want to try one of my builds wait till later I will have screen shots of all the builds in the thread.

Sorry for double posting same thread had an issue with editing.

I just basic'd them too.

I like them. A bit slow, but firepower is decent and it is tanky as long as you face the enemy and keep the enemy in front of you.

The BH2 is the mech I thought buying would be a mistake, but it turns out it might be my favorite. It is laser vomit, but it works well and moves well. I also don't miss the lower arm actuators like I thought I would.

I like the 3R and I'm getting used to the 5M. 3R has the trip A/C5 build for great dakka and the 5M is running an A/C20 with 5 MLasers. The 5M is tricky with the slower STD engine and short range. Still, if you can get into position just right, it is deadly.

The 5D is the problem child, but I'm still working on it. It runs 3 LLasers, 2 MLasers and 2 SRM4s. I need to come up with something else I think, but we will see.

Overall I like them. It has rejuvenated my desire to play MWO, even if my performance varies. The Resistance 2 mechs (Crab and Wolfhound) kind of sucked the fun out for me a bit.

Yea, I like the Marauder.

I love triple AC builds, so I'll have to give that a try next time. I've been waiting for the heavy queue to settle down so I've only dropped 2 or 3 times in my Marauder since it released.

I went full on brawler with this one 5 MPL and 2 srm4s
MARAUDER MAD-5D 19 10 9 1.11 17 13 1.31 6,084 18,345 01:58:54

KDR 1.31 win rate 1.11 and just over 300 damage a match.

My problem child is the 5m.

But I haven't reconfigured it yet to be like the 3-r(s) that I am loving so much.

I might run a MPLaser build in the 5D. I'll have to see.

You could try this in the 5M. I haven't tried it yet (still running my 1 A/C20 and 5 MLasers), but it looks promissing...

I try to make my builds across variants different, otherwise there's little point in having them.

I use the same 3R build as you - it's a beast. I'm averaging a little over 525 damage per match in it. Stared down a King Crab by taking off its right torso while it tried to roll my damage but couldn't. But if you need to, you can roll damage in the Marauder like a boss... very tanky mech.

My 5D mounts 5 large pulse lasers. It's a little bit hot, but with 3 on the right and 2 on the left it's pretty easy to control the heat. You can't alpha (technically you can, but it's not safe) but you can still lay down 55 damage in about a second. With steady aim that's devastating.

My 5M mounts an AC/20 and 5 medium pulse lasers. Much shorter ranged than the 3R build, but packs a much meaner punch. And unlike the 5D, it CAN alpha for 50 points safely. It does run hot, though, so you have to pick and choose when to engage.

I didn't buy the BH2. Couldn't see a reasonable build that would be unique to it. (Using that many energy hard points is tough... basically the 5M can do anything the BH2 can do efficiently.)

I have all of mine through Basics and am polishing off the Elites (this weekend and nearly half a year of saved up Premium Time is helping). I'm running mine like this:

THE FAT HOPPER (BHII)
BOUNTY HUNTER II
7 MPLs, AMS, 300 STD, 4 JJs

Kind of runs like a beefier 'Hopper that doesn't need to run an XL. This is kind of a weird mech - some games I get 700 damage and 5+ kills, other times I do 190 and die fast. It's a late game brawler, so stick with the herd until everyone's engaged - at range, you're toast.

BIG BOOM
MAD-3R
4 MLs, 1 AC20, AMS, Beagle, 310 STD

So this one's another brawler. That AC20's a big target, but if you can roll up on someone's flank? Deadly. 310 STD makes it relatively zippy for a fatty and the Beagle helps with Cheetahs, Shadowcats, etc - help it raaaaiiiiiin on someone you're brawling with.

ALL-'ROUNDER
MAD-5D
4 MLs, LPL, 2 ALRM5s, AMS, 310 STD

This one's multipurpose and pretty heat efficient if the you chain the lurms, go left-arm/right-arm, LPL. You can hit people from any range and still have a steady, respectable alpha. It's not going to own the battlefield, but it's remarkably mobile and effective if used right.

BLUE PEW
MAD-5M
4 LL, AMS, 310 STD

Pretty simple build that I rolled out for CW. Runs a bit hot if you alpha, thanks to ghost heat, but if you're disciplined? Pretty good mech.

I should add that I make my mechs on what's fun, unless the quirks are just ridiculous and can't be ignored. Thankfully for the MADs, there really aren't any must-have quirks unless you like running PPCs. I don't, soooo...

May I suggest a BLUE PEW MKII? For your consideration...

It ain't too bad. Will be better once elited.

I fire 2LLasers and 3 MLasers together with a 2 LLasers follow-up. Can also just fire 2 LLasers at a time with a 3 MLaser backup, chain fire LLasers. If you are cool and can fire safely with time to cool off, fire 4 LLasers together.

Just a build I have been enjoying.
