Lock Begging.

Too many times in PUG matches did I find nobody would bother to lock, the team would split up and leave my arse alone to get ganked by a random light that I couldn't shoot back at due to range or I was too far away to be of any use since th enemy could get into cover before my LRMs hit.
Sticking with the death ball, I find my LRMs arrive too quickly for the enemy to react, I take my fair share of the enemy fire, the locks are solid because I hold them myself and I if the team does break up and I find myself alone I do not just feel like lunch for a light or medium since I always carry backup weapons. But the most important thing is that I do not want to punch everyone on my team in the face because of the 1 second locks that mean I end up putting 30 missiles into a wall over and over.

Only reason to lock is to check if there are some cored legs and side torsos for easy cripple and rare kill.

I don`t really get it. Is it bad trying to get people to do some teamwork? I`m not a fan of the LRMs rains, but they are part of the game. Am I begging for locks? No.
I`m begging you to play this game as it should be played.
I ask... "beg" for locks in a respectful way. If you are having a bad day don`t take it out on anybody, take it out in the battlefield, do some team work, have fun, and don`t take it too seriously, after all, this is just a game.
It's done because while there are some good LRM using Pilots, Novakaine is one that springs to mind, the majority are bad pilots, which isn't a crime, as Lurms can be a good learning tool, let you get a moderate amount of damage and build confidence.
However, far to large a section, of them are generally selfish players that hide in holes 800-1000 meters away, and lob missiles so far back that they can't see if they are hitting a hill or a friendly and missing the target all together, they remove nearly every other damn weapon from the mech.
They don't fit B.A.P and some don't even bother with TAG (the really selfish, as they don't intend to get line of sight if they can help it) then get abusive if the team, they are expecting to take all the hits gets all the locks, don't imediately come back to help when they get wiped by roving light mech pilots.
The people taking the risk getting arms shot of, also get a pitiful amount of c-bills, X.P for doing all the hard work.
That is basically why people have the attitude they do towards Lurm using pilots.

Am I going to go out of my way to hold a lock if it's gonna be a major disadvantage for me? No, but unless I'm doing the hokey ridgey pokey if I'm fighting something I'll have it locked in so I know where to shoot.

LRMs don't mean that you're no longer responsible for getting your own locks.

People shoudl lock weather there are LRMs on your team or not. It's amazing that the newbros from steam know this and the vets don't.

It works the other way too if i'm cresting a ridge and there is a targeted mech on the other side, it's most likely the one i'll shoot when it comes into view.
And as for LRM's, yes please soften my target, it'll do less damage to me when it's dead.
If you don't like the idea of people helping you kill, you will loose. Teams that focus mechs win.

I completely appreciate knowing whether there are LRM boats in my team. It'll affect my decisions regarding where and when to place UAV's and such.
I do not appreciate the stationary LRM boat that stays at 1 km away and is less likely to make good use of those potentially hard-earned locks.
I very occasionally run LRM mechs, typically those highly mobile "lurmishers" which stay at the 200-500 and keep the missile hose open as much as possible. While I typically get my own locks, it's not possible in every situation without undue risk. More than once I've had the game turn around by a teammate putting in a well-placed UAV, allowing me to tear the red team a new one.
It's just team work -- we lock'em, they rock'em -- everybody wins.

kind of. I run LRMs just to mix it up some times. And also when my 3rd world ping starts playing games.... They just suck compared to direct fire, but yeah, I agree with your playstyle.
My personal opinion is they should stay on medium mechs unless you have a dedicated spotter or you happen to be the one of the few that can do well consistently with them. They're just such a waste of a good assault mech in solo que.

But some people do, and get angry about it. THOSE are the times I have problems with the lock-begging. Pilots like that get irate if locks go away, and don't seem to understand that ECM, Radar Dep modules, and cover exist. I can't be bothered with those kinds of pilots.
I "R". Pretty much all the time. For all the benefits it brings (CBills, XP, target info/weak spots). But when I bring LRMs, I expect to have to get my own locks or LOS. So should any other LRM boat in PUG land, without pissing and moaning if locks aren't magically available.

of course waiting for locks is less effective than getting up in the enemy's face with your lerms. not point blank of course, keep a couple hundred meters distance. but if you fire at between 400 and 200 meters, travel time is very low, there is no time to find cover and all your missiles will hit. yes you will take damage, but its better getting hit with a few shots from the front, than having a locust take you out from behind.
i did this yesterday in my lermarauder, i was actually using my erppc and medium lasers because he was inside my missile range. what does he do? he runs. as soon as he crosses the 180 mark i fire 30 missiles into his back. dead. thats how you lerm effectively (its also a fine example of how not to attack an lrm platform, not boat since my missiles were matched with energy weapons).

I hit R for locks and sometimes write in chat that people should call targets. No matter if there are LURM boats on our team or not.
I love LRM, yeah! I sit in the back OR follow the group if needed. I usually keep my distance to all my lurms are used up for then to move in and take one for the team. Though Im a LRM user who usually also have some form of backup weapons. Weird there arent any Missile VS Ballistic VS Energy fanatics around here, the forums would have exploded
