Well for the first time click on Tutorials and then select Basic Training. It will train you in all of the basics piloting a mech and after that you can run around the academy trying various challenges to better your skills.

Testing Grounds tab is for testing the mech you selected for playing on any map available in game.

Have fun!

Once the game loads, you´re in your mech-hangar.
On the upper left, there are some buttons. Click the one reading "Tutorials" (the one furthest down)

Completing the tutorial missions will get you 5 million C-bills (the in-game currency)

The Testing Ground button (second lowest) takes you on a map of your selection with 8 dummy mechs, where you can test your mechs and practice simple things like running while shooting/aiming and stuff.

As soon as you log in, look on the left hand side where it says Tutorial, this will give you a run down on how to pilot your mechs. Above that is the Testing Grounds, here is where you can test builds and get used to the maps. There will be practice dummies for you to shoot at in the testing grounds, they are harmless so you don't have to worry about them.

So what do you see ?
A users guide ?.....
Now that are news never saw one in mwo. Posted Image
There ARE 6 tabs at the upper rim of your screen.
2 colered on the right and 4 grey on the left.
The leftmost tab says home.
Even further left and a bit down are multiple options and the lowest 2 are what you are searching.

I don't have any screenshots but look at this video:

That is how your main screen should look like when you log in. On the left side you see tabs and one on bottom is Tutorials.

After logging in, your screen should look something like this:

have you downloaded and installed the game?

it sounds like you are loging into this website, not the game, click on the following link,
http://mwomercs.com/game
if that is what you are seeing follow the instructions below

on the website look in the top right corner and there is a blue download now button, click it.

download then run the patcher, it will take a few minutes to install the patcher, then click patch to install the game, depending on your PC and internet connection it could take many hours, with 1 hour being the minimum.

after it has finished downloading and installing the patch button will change to play.

or you could download it through steam which is a bit simpler

Yes, you need to patch first. After that you can click on the same button, then labels as "play" :)
