Cose' its easier to loose an arm, so you're protecting your heavy-hitting weapons by putting them in the torso.. That's probably the logic behind it..
Personally, I don't like asymmetric builds.. I would use both arms, so you always have somewhere to shoot from.. you can shield with both sides, and protect your torsos, and if you lose one whole side, you still have some firepower..
But that's just me..

because the LPL's in the torso alow you to retain higher dmg should your amrs blow off and have a better height for making hillpopping.
Also, it makes weapon groups easier due to not mix the locations ino further weapon groups.:
I use the following:
1: left arm volly
2 right arm volley
3 left LPL
4 right LPL
alpha.
if you would mix up CERML and LPL into the same arm it would be a more complicated to properly seperate the 2 arm wapons and the torsowepaons. Especially when you cornerpoke you may want to fire "one side"
And assymetric builds, well they are side biased which means in situatiosn where you aren't able to choose the side, like defending. you may end up with the wrong side towards the action.
But of yourse its a matter of preference.

Its not amazing on power, but if you get rushed and have to brawl you can without sacrificing too much, Its a good front line mech.

And which side you lose...

You could technically just take one smaller hit (the 3E LT) instead of two bigger hits (2E arms) and it wouldn't be so punishing.
1E in every side torso (including some CT variants) is pretty common and popular.

if you play high tier players they like to show off by shooting the arms of your TW

Listen man, I'm not T1 like some other players who are clearly superior to me are T1 but I promise you that unless they are just goofing around real "high tier players" don't aim for the arms of a TBR because it is a waste of time with little payoff (few weapons housed there, ST is easier to remove which impacts the TBR much, much more and also removes the arm with it).
