Or find a new player and mentor them.

This is the only problem with what you said. This is not easy.

I think the community's attitude towards them is truing them off quicker. why play when everyone hates you for being new.

Ya, and I cant tell if these people have simply forgot that they were new once too or if they are actually going out of their way to sabotage the Steam launch in the hopes of generating bad reviews.

Either way, its its not cool to treat people in such a harsh manner just because they want to try to learn and enjoy the same game we do.

I'm on the fence. Faction Play is a big draw. You can't really ask new players to stay away from it, if it's one of the reasons they downloaded the game anyway. After all, the videos PGI created for Steam are geared toward CW. But, I get what the OP is saying and he/she has a point. They go right into Faction Play they have the potential to uninstall.

New players that install have to do the tutorial, and there is the warning in game. I say leave it alone cause CW needs players. Or, if there is a minimum # of games it should be the Cadet bonus ones and that is it.

There's a disclaimer when they click into CW now, says its a group-oriented game mode. If newbies cant read nobody can save them.

That's not true at all. People are DESPERATE for leadership, and training. On facebook, and another non-gaming forum I'm on, people are always looking for good players to play with and do drops with to learn the ropes.

The only thing it takes is people willing to do it, who are not too full of themselves.

It's interesting how judgemental ppl are of someone they don't know.

I made this thread to help them not get too abused. I don't "hate" them for being new. Talk about ridiculous assertions.

You just make it so that you have to play a certain number of matches, or own a certain number of mechs or whatever. Plenty of games don't let you have everything at the very start.

Let the new players play whatever they want.

CW is not the member's only preserve for ring knocking leets that some try to make it.

The point isn't about preserving CW as a viable game mode...it's about preserving the player base as a whole.

Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. Having to play thru the tutorial & finish your cadet bonus isn't asking much.

It's not asking enough, really. I'd say 100 games minimum in the PUG or Group queues before being allowed into CW. That's not much, really.

It's also too much to ask pre-made groups to go easy on pugs.

Telling all my steam friends to try and find a unit that fields 12 man groups with good communication protocols before trying CW. I think it is a fun mode, but solo players should steer clear.

Why exactly should premade groups go easy on PUGs?

well if they don't want CW to be a ghost town again would be a very compelling reason.

To be fair, it's only in English.

Trying to yell something over TS when the people on the other end don't actually speak or comprehend the language... well, it is what it is.

Players don't design games...devs do. It's really a case of "hate the game, not the player."

To save CW comp players need to stop being competitive?

Let's see. Faction warfare has a chat channel where they can ask questions and meet experienced players outside of drops. Quick play does not. Hmm.

I say make faction play mandatory before they get shuffled off to quick play and learn bad habits.
