I get a good laugh at the herp derp comments from the pro-IS/nerf-the-p2w-clans crowd now that one of "thiers" got the clan treatment so that they can finally pilot a clan equipped mech and OMG, hell froze over, wow, the clan version kinda, y'know, s.u.c.k.s.

I keep reading comments like:
  • Man, IIC mechs die so easily. I feel like a glass cannon. [myth: Clan XL provides god mode survivability. IS structure buffs easily equal Clan XL side blow out]
  • Man, IIC mechs are so sluggish [myth: Clan mechs get free agility buffs from their engines. They forget that clan mechs pay for it in huge tonnage costs. Yes clans get the speed at XL tonnage costs, but most clan mechs are so over-buffed on engine that they have small payloads for weapons. Take a look at the gargoyle, Executioner, shadowcat, etc. The only exception is the Direwolf and it pays for it with ridiculous turn rate/angle. You know what is a free agility buff? Free agility Quirk buffs that cost no tonnage. Once you start lowering the engine to get more tonnage for more weapons, your agility loses out.]
  • Man, where are ma' quirks [IS pilots are addicted to quirks. It's expected now. It's like my kids who can't conceive of a world without the internet or cell phones. Not having quirks is like an ice bucket shower to them. No quirks, trivial/token quirks or even negative quirks are what the other clan mechs get.]
  • Man, they are gonna add quirks right? Eventually? [Unless things radically change, clans mechs only ever get trivial quirks, if any at all. You're not going to get IS level structure and accel/decel quirks on your IIC mechs. Sorry. Just no. LOL. If you want that extra maneuverability, pay for it with engine tonnage like all the other clan mechs. As for structure quirks, you're just gonna have to live with that. Hate to break it to ya, but yeah.....]
  • Man, I paid good RL money for these, now I feel ripped off [You should. You got exactly what you deserved, which is a taste of your own medicine. Karma is a @#$(. You reap what you sow.]
I could go on and on about the innate heatsink buffs to IS, the extra tonnage in CW, the lower burn time on their lasers, etc but I know that the clan-nerf-lobyists will never get enough. They often only compare a single facet of IS vs Clan and omg, clan weapons weigh less, and never consider all the other buffs they get or their ridiculous quirks. I just wanted to enjoy a good laugh for a bit. Oh the irony, or should I say, oh the Grid Irony....

Sounds like there is quite a crowd and many comments from those that are the "pro-IS/nerf-the-p2w-clans" and also pilot the IIC's. I'd really like to hear some of those comments. Go ahead and link them so we can read.

IIC mechs suck:

View PostKillian Kell, on 22 December 2015 - 07:42 AM, said:

I absolutely do, and I regret the C-bills spent to equip them, it would have been much better spent buying regular mechs. I get that the devs wanted to do the whole 'glass cannon' thing because clan tech is supposed to be soooo much better, (or used to be), but they aren't even glass cannons, more like paper. If you so much as look at the Jenny IIc mean it's cored or has components fly off it. The Hunchy and Orion(y) aren't much better..yes I also know that in lore, (as if that matters AT ALL anymore), they were also reserve or 3rd line throw away mechs so they wouldn't be as good as front line Clan Mechs, But why does that mean that they have so much less survivability than their IS counter parts.

So yeah, I regret spending real and virtual money on them. I guess on the bright side, they didn't start out awesome only get nerfed to uselessness later. DOA.

View PostRhaythe, on 22 December 2015 - 10:18 AM, said:

Regret? Sure. But this is an open-development free-to-play game that receives bi-monthly updates. Spending money on anything in this game without the realization that it is subject to balance changes is just ill-advised.

I wont say I regret it but they didn't live up to all the hype being thrown at them for sure.

On paper, the Jenner IIC is the bee's knees. Endo + Ferro + Big engine, up to 6 energy / missile hardpoints, as many jump jets as you want, and it' in that sweet 35 ton spot that Clanners have been waiting for. The shape of the Jenner isn't ideal, but every other factor is basically perfect, as far as I can tell. I wasn't expecting it to be super incredible, but I wasn't expecting so many people to struggle with it either.

Maybe it's just people who aren't used to playing light mechs, so they thought the Jenner IIC would be an I-win button like the ACH used to be, pre-nerf.

Clan XL will not save you:

View PostBishop Steiner, on 20 December 2015 - 10:47 PM, said:

So, with only a couple short detours, I have been driving my HBK-IICs almost exclusively. Figured I'd try to get them mastered (IRL has not let me do that yet, though my Alpha is almost there).

Impressions?

Cons:
-Despite the Clan XL, they are VERY fragile.

The issue? You can't really play them like an IS Hunchback. They are too delicate to brawl.

View PostPS WrathOfDeadguy, on 21 December 2015 - 09:42 AM, said:

C-XL doesn't seem to increase my survivability by much at all in these.

View PostUltimatum X, on 22 December 2015 - 08:15 AM, said:

So yeah, he is within his right to regret sending cash to PGI for mechs that crumple and die too easy.

IIC mechs should have quirks:

View PostDjPush, on 21 December 2015 - 10:40 AM, said:

All the IIC mechs need structure and armor quirks. Not much, just a smidge. Except for the Jenner. That mech can suck it. Nerf the hell out of that little OP monster.

IIC mechs will eventually get quirks:

Expect them to get quirked before they go on sale for mc.

Without quirks, balance is pretty rubbish.

Balancing factions through quirks isn't a great solution, in my opinion.

Wait till the mech comes out for cbills and then you will know OP. The jenner is a very powerful light with the recent SRM buff. The hunchback laservomit version is probably the best hillhumper for clans in the game. With 4 ErLL and a boatload of heatsinks on hellabore or boreal it rules.

I don't think them being fragile is a myth. Every time I see one of these mechs (Especially the hunchback or the Orion), I salivate because I know my UAC will shred them in seconds.

Well, that's an interesting perspective, but the IICs are actually Clan mechs, not IS mechs. So they aren't really "getting a taste of their own medicine" or getting access to Clan tech. We're just pretty much getting a taste of the same medicine we've been having for a while now Clan side.

Ummm... IICs are not IS mechs with Clan equipment so that the "IS can get their Clan on".

They are clan mechs, used by the Clan Factions (and will only be usable by clans in CW) based off old IS designs.

Only person their being "bad" would affect...is the Clans.

MRW I'm watching the pro-Clan fanboys and the pro-IS fanboys yell to each other about balance, while I have a IS account and separate Clan account and think balance between factions is fine:

LOL, resorting to name calling already Bish? You must feel threatened.

You're assuming I'm referring to CW only. There is more than CW. For quickplay players, it doesn't matter which side they are technically on. Many have already said that IIC mechs are a taste of mix tech.

Nice try at a save, but your post doesn't feed to that, as IS players have just run omnis in those cases anyhow. The only segregation is in CW, or in the minds of a few roleplayers. And most of them weren't waiting with bated breath.

As for name calling? Didn't call YOU anything. Just calling a duck a duck, and your entire OP is one or the other of what I stated.

Well, might still have quirks, because no clan XL, no clan DHS, no clan weapons, etc.

You...duck! :)

You only show how you'd never make it as a community rep for PGI.

I've never asked for or wanted to be a "community rep" for PGI, so that's fine. I would rather be free to call a duck a duck. Or a goose. Posted Image

As I said on that post (before FINALLY getting it locked) Community Don't need a Rep or a Player Council. Just needs to learn to speak up in a civil manner to the Powers That Be.

I'm content repping myself and what I see and find to Russ. Other people should try to do the same.

IIC are new - and new = every single person on the enemy team focusing fire trying to kill the new mech first.

Happenens(ed) with every single mech except the Cheetah which most people just gave up on after a short time of dealing with its initial brokenness. So yeah, of course it's going to feel weak when every time you poke your face out you have 120-500+ points of alpha flying your direction.

am i the only one who put standard engines in their hunch iics? as a stick the ol hunch is much less dangerous (6 dmg mpl) than the iic (22 dmg from 2 erll). this also frees up a couple slots for additional heat sinks in each st. also since the ff and endo only consume 7 crits each, you can install both and still have a ton of crits. you end up with is survivability and clan damage. protip, put dhs in the feet and you can alpha 8 ermls while standing in water.

currently running a std 210, but im gonna upgrade that to a 250 after i finish mastering and sell a certain dragon.

the only thing i feel ripped off about is the jenner iic cockpit. that really pisses me off.

Probably, looking at them (not owning them) I wouldn't run anything smaller than an xl250 - almost always an xl275.

If you can't get a handle on them without quirks then gift me a pack and I'll show you how to pilot them.

Can't say much about the heavy and assault - but you get clan tech versions of two of the most solid IS mechs with the Jenner and Hunchback. This shouldn't be rocket appliances to figure out how to make them work.
