CN9-AL
It's got amazing quirks, is XL friendly and it can be fitted with 3 LPL perfectly, I thought it would become the new FOTM but I was wrong. Personally I'm not much of a laser vomit fan so I stick to a more mixed build.

Energy quirks:
-20% Duration
-20% Heat
15% Cooldown
No glorious range quirks, thank god.

XL friendly?

People really need to decide whether Centurion is XL friendly or a Zombie-friendly; I don't think it can be both.

Probably because the IS medium class is jammed full of really good mechs atm. imo there hasn't been this many viable mediums in the game ever. Still nice quirks on it.

Both I guess, I tend to run both STD and XL on them, depending on the build. It's got CT hardpoints but even then Zombie is not really a thing IMO.

a lot of successful wangs always ran with XLs.

Really the zombie cent is the SRM build> CT lasers, arms stripped. In organised teams or comp, where the entire team is forcing a favorable brawl, these things were tough and hard hitting.., they also had these big nubs where the amrs got blown off, which counted as arms for dmg transfer, the thin T shaped body, they could eat a lot of dmg if lucky, with 2x 60% reductions to CT if shot from the side. Arm nubs are nerfed now. < If you aren't playing the cent like that, and who would when there are beter srm brawler mediums out there now, XL is fine.

your mixed build is likely a better use of the AL, but if i'm going to do a 50t trip LPL the Hunchie 4P does that better, quirks or no. with good use of cover you can use the high mounts to great effect.

Hmmm yes but the hunch is a big set back to the XL, Cents can brawl very effectively

The CN9-AL was my favorite cent back in closed beta. Of course that was back when we had like 10 Mechs to choose from. I've not driven a cent in over a year.

Actually it kinda can.

The torso hitboxes are quite balanced between CT and ST now, but what enables you to choose between them is the shield arm.

In XL builds you tone down the right hook twisting once your shield arm is destroyed and start wiggling and twisting the other way, while in standard builds you keep twisting hard right even after the arm is destroyed until you loose the left ST too.

Totally it can do either.

My preference is the XL.

I see no reason to use it over a wvk-6k (range is op) or a bj-1x. Particularly hte bj1x as it has ridiculous durability quirks right now. AL could beat a wvk in a straight up shootfest due to the durability quirks/cooldown, but if you're doing that you're really not using them correctly as avoiding damage is better. Range helps you do that so you take less damage in return. And really, while cooldown can be awesome you shouldn't be in situations where you're firing nonstop anyways as that means you're open to return fire (which the AL has to expose ct + right side whereas wvk only needs to expose right arm).

Probably because the right arm on the Cent explodes as soon as an enemy spots it.
Or at least, that's what happens to all Cents i see around.

Just mastering the gunslinger H so I can jump back into my AL will give the 3xLPL version a trial as I have that engine. There is a Liao version with a ERPPC that is worth a look for the larger battlefields too.
Like many returning after a break the Centurion used to be the pic now there is little to choose from in the Medium range as one poster said if i want to brawl seriously I will go for a Swayback laser carrier for the higher sight line and more side torso laser slots.
The centurion is durable and well represented across all the house armies we will be seeing cents well into the next century with all those field upgrade kits coming out of Houses Liao and Marik factories

This was my first ever mech, back in 2013. No quirks then, but had the zombie bug.

No range, but lots of duration = use ERLLs, not LPLs. LPLs dont need duration, they need range, and ERLLs do need duration.
