So we won't get the ability to pick up another variant, say the AWS-8V versus the AWS-8R? Well poo :)

Glad to hear it and I await happily to see the changes.

Good to know!

You can have one Awesome versus other (different variants), but a player can't have two Awesomes.

Just slow-poking in here due to just finding this. Love the idea and printing off the game now! It looks very fun and I hope to see more!

The last version here (link by DarthMolen).

Added 1 more terrain, made the rules more clear, the playing phases were totally reviewed and the visibility of the miniatures was improved.

Thanks!

I was making some "Quick Start" rules but my gaming notebook`s video card fried (again). Anyway, I think I need to do more playtest before releasing a new version.

PS: I still need feedback. I think the long range mechs should cost more, specially those with Indirect Fire... anyone confirm this?

OK, I made a quick program to calculate the cost of the mechs.
Both Speed and Long Range attack have great weight in the formula now, so you can expect changes in the cost of some mechs.

Soon, in the next update (and I still hope to include Mech #16 on it).

I actually have a starter deck from the original card game...didn't really like it though.

OK, the last version (1.6) here:

http://thepowergeeks...hess%20v1_6.pdf

(Thanks again DarthMolen for the host)

Major changes: all cards stats reviewed, revised rules (including new "quick start" rules), 16 new mechs and more.

I hope not. I'm using only PGI art and I'm not mentioning the registered words "Battletech", "Battlemech", etc. About the cards, BT CCG resembles a lot Spellfire and Magic, in its own way...

The CBT CCG was also designed by the guy who made M:tG, and it was published by the same publisher (WotC).

A shame it didn't do any better than it did, it was actually pretty fun; I have a bit of the cards hidden away somewheres...

EDIT: Colon *before* the t, not after. x_x

The game was very fun, indeed. I have tons of cards here and one deck for each faction (all of them play very different).
But the game had a lot of issues:
1- many, many useless cards. With some minor changes most cards could be saved.
2- irregular art. Some artists were terrific, some were not. The cards art itself was lacking.
3- could be simplified with the use of keywords (instead of describing the abilities in all cards all the time).
4- many mechs don't have their proper abilities (specially in the first cards).
5- balance. Some mechs were too expensive (most clan mechs) and some too cheat (Hatamoto-Chi, anyone?). Some unique command cards were too strong, not to mention the banned cards.

If the game was re-released with these fixes, I would buy everything again (and burn the old cards).

How about adding "Commander" cards?
Attach a commander to a mech, slightly buffing that mech.
Light pilot commander increases speed, assault pilot commander increases damage, etc

http://s14.postimage...r7b8h/image.jpg

Maybe as an expansion?
Am I like total TT Master now?

Yes you are the master. ;)

There are plans to make an expansion that transforms the MWO Chess in a card-only game.

The plans include:
- resource cards (the images are pictures of buildings in MWO - like those in Caustic Valley and River City) - all resource cards would give an amount of points to build mechs (like in the Battletech CCG) but also some effect in the game;
- pilot cards (but where to find decent, uniform, free images?) to improve the mechs;
- terrain cards (screen shots of the maps in MWO).

I didn't make it yet because of the Beta's NDA (I can't take print screens of the Beta) and because I'm afraid the game would become too similar to the Battletech CCG.

As long as he keeps this inside the BETA forum he shouldn`t have any issues with copyright.

Publish it outside though.. If the product is good, readily available and infringes on the official products ability to capitalize on the lincenses, he might be putting himself in a hotspot.

This looks really good though- great initiative..

Make the gameboard slightly bigger and varied and i`ll be playing it next to MWO.. ;)

If PGI is smart, they will view this as an opportunity for another revenue stream...if this becomes popular, maybe they hire or contract the author and publish the card game...win-win.

It wouldn't be too hard to transform in a browser video game this board/card game (or maybe a MWO mini game).

You can play it in any board you want (but I confess the attack ranges and speed needed some review for a very large board).
