Well the one really nice thing about the table top paper weights, is they actually will hold collectible value, at least maybe to some in the future.. and probably more distant.. unlike this when it goes off line you loose it all. Unless of course they just release the whole thing as a one time shot buy, or give it away for free...
I look at online gaming like i do concerts or anything else i do for fun in life, it's more about what those memories are worth to you.. I know some that would say the 5 grand they spent to take their kids to disney world when they were 6 was worth every penny, and those kids can remember that for the rest of their lives.. I personally never got that as my parents could not afford that.. Instead we got to go camping in the woods for a week.. no mickey, but hotdogs on the open fire, a lake to swim in and some fireworks made it a time to remember..

well, I'm trying to convince my friends to gank all the 3D game models. If MWO ever does go full belly up, then not much stopping me from using those to print some really cool minis and toys.

There's actually nothing stopping you from doing that right now, unless you plan to sell them. Just making them for yourself though? Go on.
Also, if MWO does go "full belly up", HBS will still have some (all?) of the 3D models, so they'll live on.

If you ever get them, I'd really like a copy. I plan to get myself a 3d printer sometime.... Unfortunately when it comes to 3d design, I'm a potato. I'm a telecom engineer, not a graphic designer....

Over $2000 since Closed Beta. And I know there are people who bought every pack and gold mechs, and thus have spent even more than me...
500 into MWO, isn't all that much.

If any of you feel bad about something like $500, consider that for $ per hour it's a damn cheap hobby. Even if you roll in a gold Dire Wolf. Can't think of many hobbies apart from taking a walk or reading library books that's cheaper.

Free to Play. Well, the first taste..... but then..... yeah. Let's just say I have bought several used cars for less than I have spent.

This game is free to play the same way drugs are free to try lol

It's funny how normal money logic doesn't apply to games. Most people here (I'm generalizing) probably don't think too much about spending 100 currency units IRL, but in a game... It's like it's worth a hundred times more.

It was probably worth it in terms of $/hrs played, but I can't call it healthy spending. It is more like fuelling a drug addiction than anything lol

In contrast to MWO and the few hundred I've spent and the enjoyment and friends I've gained.... MWO has been the best bang for the buck I've invested in, in a long time.
