The STD 300 build also works with 2xLPL+4xML instead of 3xLL+3xML. It does the same total damage, better damage per tick, and a better heat profile at the expense of reach, but it's still comfortably within the goldilocks region for weapons range.

Just a side note.

Talking about the Jester inspired me to take it out last night. It was the first time after the Hitbox changes. Yikes! the side torsos take a lot of damage now. I went from a melting CT to melting STs. Maybe the Marauder spoiled me, but I feel the Catapult is still fragile.

Anyway, still a good choice, but torso twist and look for ideal positioning.

I meant it when I said it's basically an IS EBJ. It plays exactly like one, right down to punishing the crap out of you for bad positioning. But if you hone your judgement, it becomes a devastating scalpel.

Firebrand. There are better TDRs than the Top Dog, and if you're looking for a fast JJ mech with at least six energy mounts, there are way better options than the Jester, many for cbills. The FB at least gives you the option of some unique builds on an inherently good chassis.

Simple question: If you could only have one 65T hero, which would it be?

1. Jester
2. Firebrand
3. TopDog

JESTER.

I Can run basically the same build between JESTER and FIREBRAND--one E per arm, up to 4 in the torsos. Arms are up high, torsos not so much. JUST enough room to stuff it full of DHS. BUT, JESTER gives me the option of dual AMS, and it brings JJs to the table (if only so much). It has the best side torsos for XL of the three (I HATE running XL in any JM6, because SQUISH).

MIND YOU, CW has breathed new life into the Firebrand for me. It's not the BEST choice, but when the CBills are tight and you happen to have one around, it'll do.

But I still take JESTER over the other two, with FB in a close second, and TD can go lick itself in the back yard...

Yea, I understand that. It is the way it is taking damage now that is throwing me off. Before it was CT fragile, now it seems ST fragile. I'm not used it that.

Yeah I'm going to try it with a standard engine and see what I can do, but the downside to that is it won't be that near 100kph heavy flanker it used to be.

I briefly tried a few STD engine builds in Smurfy, and I kind of hate them :/ . I'll just stick XL for the Jester and maybe STD of the slower K2.

the Firebrand's biggest weakness is that it doesn't have any ballistic cool-down quirks. If it could rip off AC/2 rounds like a BJ-1/DC, I'd play mine a lot more since it could do two ERLL and two AC/2 very well.

You should look on the Firebrands quirks again.. it do have 10% ballistic cool-down!

Chose Top Dog upon finding out i could get a slooow 6 PPC variant with no armor running (silly thought, rly :D).

Most viable Jester build would´ve been copy&paste of my current K2, which sounded a bit underwhelming.

Firebrand ... i never really stuck my nose into Jagermech.

I stand corrected.

Still can't rip out AC/2 rounds with reckless abandon, though. :P

You want more reach with a physical design like the Catapult IMO, the 3x LPL focused builds can be run as well if not better on a couple of other IS heavies that have similar quirks but better physical design for shorter ranged engagements.
