Apologies if this has been covered, had a search and came up with nothing.

So I'm looking to play a scout and I'm mindful of the various detection/tracking mechanisms available but also that ECMs are going to be available (per Dev Blog 2). What I'm worried about is that, as a dedicated scout, it may be possible for my opponents to pile enough ECM on to fly blind under my sensors even if I'm using the most advanced in-game setup.

So I have two questions: In the BT universe, what ECCMs are available which might be included in MWO? Secondly. has anyone seen any evidence (non-NDA'd, obviously) of Bloodhound Active Probes or similar 'highly advanced' sensors which might nullify ECM's effectiveness?

Also, from a less objective standpoint, does anyone think it should be possible to operate beneath sensors, if you're appropriately kitted out to do so? If so, what role do you think the scout should play?

(ECCM = Electronic Counter-Counter-Measure)
(Bloodhound Active Probe = Sensor capable of detecting even stealthed mechs, with far more effectiveness than a typical Beagle Active Probe, outlined in Maximum Tech)

[Edit: Typo]

Wait and see. There is no sense worrying about it until we find out in-game.

ECCM = Active probe(Clan) or Beagle Active Probe (IS)

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Active_Probe

Implementation is another matter and entirely up to PGI

By that reasoning, there's no need to have a forum to discuss the game, since there's no sense worrying about any of it until it comes out...

I'd like to consider the possibilities, I'm not angsting over it B)

I seriously doubt if there is one method of detection, there is more than one method of avoidance that would also stack. That would not sound balanced, although it would depend on how it was implemented.

I also doubt they're flipping through sarna webpages and picking out the things they are going to add to the game.

I think I read somewhere in the original rules, that ECM's could also be put into an ECCM mode. Maybe I am just making stuff up, but I want to say that at least. Might just be one of those MegaMek optional rules, though.

Gonna check it out and get back to ya.

Thanks,
Marko
