Please, a lot of the big comp unit's are merc's and they have balanced there contracts between both Clan and IS. As a merc I've spent more time playing IS mechs when Clan mechs were better than you have. You've likely always been a Clanner and you've always had Clan tech advantage. Don't be salty that you don't have it anymore.

The mechs are very balanced right now, it's just finding the sweet spot. Don't just go for lazer vomit and things are still in the clans favor. UAC-10's are /brutal/, just because they shoot a burst instead of two single slugs doesn't change what a pair of them can do to another mech in very short order.

Add in that er-mediums are essentially lighter weight IS large lasers and you can have severe energy backup for when you run out of ammo for very little weight.

Clan mech's are fine, the only /problem/ is people still trying to play them the same way they used to instead of taking more balanced load outs. With the ECM change it is not uncommon for me to get well over 800 damage with a /stock/ shadowcat-B as well.

Things are better now than they've ever been, but, a lot of it is new mechs coming out for IS. Marauders, Warhammers, Riflemen, Archers... Of course people are going to swing back to IS just so they can use those for nostalgia's sake if nothing else.

I'm sure it's some of both.

QQ, for instance, just ended a month-long Ghost Bear contract a few days ago. We like to bounce back and forth. We took a vote on WHICH IS faction to roll with next, but back-to-IS was a given. Next contract or the one after, WILL be a Clan contract most likely.

Some folks probably DID want to go to IS because of a big balance shift.

Part of THAT, in turn, was likely because of the suddenly-very-VERY-powerful IS mechs. And part of it, no doubt, was just raw curiosity about how bad it was.

(And it's BAD. REALLY bad. That drop deck tonnage limit needs to come back down...)

I'm in NS.

I don't even have to say anything else.

Yea.... NS has bucked the trend for a long time now, being a successful IS team since the beginning of CW...pretty hard argument to sell when claiming that they are clan loyalists. You can say that about KCom though as the only time we went IS was to FRR in order to see if things were as bad as people claimed....we definitely noticed a difference but a change in play style was all we needed.

Last I checked NS doesn't speak for big merc unit's and their faction choices. I assumed you were a clan loyalist because you are talking like one but you see where assumptions get you?

Not really, since I talk with Deadfire quite often, leader of one of the so called "big" mercs. Going IS because it's easiest right now is what he told me.

Believe it or not, I don't really care. My position seems to be grounded in sources and facts.

228th had at this point spent 6 weeks as a Clan faction, and a vast majority of it's membership asked to play Inner Sphere.

It's what he told me. But that's Dad for you. Do as he says, not as he does.

Chances are we're both right and wrong. Regardless, I apologize for being a ****.

its always like this since they lack the competitive mind to play nonmeta.
its not that the clan mechs are really worse, they just arent as OP as they used to be.
if that is the so called *comp* units driving away because they cant roll over the IS anymore is just a bad thing.

i didnt expect anything else tho. PGI made it like that and the units are using it.
we just had some guys going on *clanvacation* because they wanted to see how it is to play as clans atm.
most of them said FW is in really good in balance atm and i think that is totally true.
some adjustments to the IS side in range/energy heat overall and we are fine.

There is no reason to play non-meta mech's because meta mechs are just better but that doesn't mean outside comp they don't still play non-meta mechs and that doesn't really apply to faction selection. There are plenty of really good IS mechs even before this. I don't think those big competitive unit's really had any problem's beating anybody using IS or Clan mech's, meta or non-meta.

oh there are plenty of reasons. in fact, i have more fun beating the metamechs will all the weird stuff i drive.
its hilarious. but for that you just have to step up your game and not just be a oneclick guy.
which certainly are alot of people in here.

so, why, WHY are those units certainly switching to IS?
i know 228 dont simply switch but got some sort of voting (correct me if im wrong)
but as competitor i would think you want a challenge. not stupid pug stomping but thats what they all got.

Are you serious? There is no match making in Community Warfare. We don't decide who we go up against. We only decide where we contract and we contract based on spending 3 weeks in a IS faction and 3 weeks in a Clan faction. 228 spent 6 weeks in a Clan contract because the IIC mechs came out and this is our time to spend on a IS contract regardless of any IS buffs, or Clan nerfs.

So many people talk like a unit is a hive mind. There's a bit of everything and there are so many reasons for a unit to go one place or another in MWO CW. It is obvious that some units go for the easy wins, others will go for glory (whatever glory is for one might be different for another, some want lots of wins others want quality wins or losses), others go for alternating between Clan and IS because each have their own feel ... it's like this in any online game where player plays against player (ie they will go where they have their fun). I currently like where MWO is at right now ...

... MWO was never intended to be a fair game. Some games were stomps, some were close ... some good, some bad. It doesn't only depends on which Mech is available for each side, like it's been pointed out it's all about how they are built and used. Some will juice out the meta, but it is still possible to stomp those wether you are following the meta or not. I think a lot of Clan mercs are coming back to IS in big part because of the new mechs ... many would even if those mech sucked and many did because they don't. No point in accusing others, we can't really know why they did it (most of the time).

That video was entertaining and well done. Was very close at the end there with your back wide open ! Lucky they didn't focus it Posted Image

Thank you for proving my point. This is the reason I moved to IS as well.

i know that there is no MM in FW^^
all i knew is that you vote something to where you go but not whats gonna be voted. so dont get upset here now for no need.
also i think you misunderstood my post up there (should have left a line empty there, my bad)
since i wanted to exclude 228 from the random sideswitches.

A lot of merc companies alternate between IS and Clan, and Tukayyid II gave real benefits to being on the clan side (shorter wait times). It's not crazy that a bunch of them decided they had enough of Clans for a while and wanted to sample the goodies of the IS again. I expect things to get a little more balanced on its own in a month or two (barring further polarizing events like Tuk).

First off - if you ain't cheatin', you ain't trying. You wanna win big, you take every advantage you can. What do you think gets you to the top?

Second... I think, in the attempt to slander better pilots and units by calling them fair weather riders, you just agreed that IS mechs are now OP. GG
