inexperienced players often do this when they run out of ammo and/or weapons.
Running out to make the other team waste ammo on you instead of the fresh mechs that just reinforced is ALWAYS a better option than just ejecting.

not always. say your team is about to rush the generators and your mech has no weapons. you are no real help to your team without weapons.
yes you could rush in and get killed by enemies, but then your team is going to be pushing gennies with 1 less mech, and its going to take a few minutes for you to respawn and rejoin your team... during which time your team is down a mech. where if you just ejected, your team would have another fresh mech for the push.
so no its not always as black and white as you make it out to be. theres definitely a grey area where ejecting is the best option.

Or, even better, running out to scout the enemy and inform your team of their next move. Even if the enemy doesn't follow what their reported plan was, they now had to come up with a new one and execute it, giving you time and potentially reducing their confidence.

yes
always
If you're needing to reinforce and not hang around in a beat up mech, run out and suicide scout quickly. Also, more often than not, if you're attacking and pushing, you're not running around i a beat up mech. If you are it's because you actively chose to retreat and make it back out of the base.
Any information
Any ammo used on you
Any focus placed on you
Is ALWAYS better than the fresh mechs.

Your team pushed the enemy dropzone hard and some of them slipped by you to attack the Omega. You are at least a full minute out from the Omega. It is faster to eject and and drop on them in a fresh mech, with backup from the dropship, then return. (Yes, I've seen a match lost this way before.)
For that matter, on the defense, sometimes it is better to eject and "summon" the dropship for more fire support.
Is it usually better to pull a good suicide in a crippled mech? Sure. But not always.

Sure, it's not best if you play poorly and get out of position. (If you're on defense you should never be 1 minute out from Omega unless you're fighting their last wave of mechs)
If you slip out and get too far away from Omega, that's a mistake, not strategy
It's not better to summon a dropship since the dropship doesn't shoot at Omega.

There are times where it is better to eject. You don't want to be waiting to redrop while the enemy is pushing into your base or just killing your team.

All I can say is, your unit has standing orders about it and mine has its own

Well if you want to go by unit protocols that is fine, but I'm just going to say that saying

is wrong, and ejecting is definitely not just a inexperienced player thing.

However, there are better ways to die. If possible, charge out one of the gates to get a little extra damage out, waste some enemy ammo, and scout which way there are coming and their composition. If you charge out the wrong gate you'll probably need to eject and return to the team to prepare.

You know you will die instantly once the wave comes. Then you'll have to wait, then get back to the front, leaving your team down a man for the time inbetween and possibly making a big difference. Sure you can suicide scout out the gate, but if there's really no useful opportunity to get in a new mech in short order, ejecting is the best option.

because if you have no weapons the other team is under no obligation to kill you. And actually the most intelligent move would be NOT to kill you. they can just leave you wandering around with no weapons until you eject. And if youre one of those dumbasses like sandpit that refuses to eject ever, then youll never be able to get a fresh mech.
theres plenty of other situations where you might need to eject too. most of them have already been covered.

I'm just happy enough there IS an eject feature. Could you imagine if there was none? Enemy team stripped off all your weapons? Too bad, now they're going to leave you like that. Better go get your teammates to kill you.

So, it's always a bad option, even when it's the best option for fixing an error? Not buying it.
