I've used Sly or Slystone since I was 15..... So for 23 years and the reason is Sly and the Family Stone was my Fathers all time favorite group.

I figured something immature would be good, especially while I dominate everyone else like in all the other mech warrior games =)

Hybris is who I have been on various games since I played Airfix Dogfighter back in 2000 and the cheat code for God Mode was Hybris.

When non gamers ask what it means I say it means "God", I have it on my high school graduation ring, hell when I wrote my mechwarrior fanfiction my character's callsign was "Hybris".

It just felt right and its not often I ever have to add numbers or anything extra for any site to take it.

This has been my pseudo-name for several different things, Ulrik's an old family name and I'm changing my last name to as soon as the paperwork goes through von Korvyn

I usually play magic type characters in D&D. The one time I played a warrior I used a two handed sword and did terribly. I dubbed the sword "Unweildy". Kasabaru means "Unweildy" in Japanese. I am an anime nerd. I've been using the name as a character name ever since. It's never been taken.

Mine came from when i watched an episode of "The Cinema Snob." An actor from "Don't go Near the Park" didnt want their name on the credits so he used the name Crackers Phinn. The whole presentation of the review and the reasons behind it made me crack up a whole lot. It was a versatile name so i started using it for everything. Old handle I used was MentosMkr from years back, which is another story all in its own.

Vergoth/Lord_Vergoth in use for 11 years
Kelmar 4 years prior to Vergoth
Kelmar was the name of a street i delivered papers to when I was younger.
Vergoth came from the middle of nowhere really, I love the Letters V and K so I pulled Vergoth out of the air. However I was later informed that Vergoth is a surname.

It all started when I joined Steam. my real name was (IS!) Peter, and raccoons were (ARE!) my favorite animal, so i came up with the nickname:

PETERRACCOON!

Next, when i signed up for MWO, I figured that PeterRaccoon was not enough for the level of awesome that emanates from MWO... OK fine, I could have used PeterRaccoon, but since I liked mechs, (and not to mention, this entire game is about mechs) I put my favorite animal and one of my favorite things in science fiction together to form:

MECHRACCOON!

That is also when I came up with my slogan. Thinking of how much chaos would ensue from a raccoon in a mech cockpit, I decided on:

DON'T LET HIM IN THE COCKPIT!

That, my friends, is why my signature says:

"MECHRACCOON! DON'T LET HIM IN THE COCKPIT!"

Retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer = Chief

U.S. Cavalry Scout 19D, then an Aeroscout and Scout Pilot = Scout

So, after serving as a scout for 26 years and retiring as a "Chief", sort of fitting to be Chief of Scouts.

* My name has nothing to do with Native Americans, the Boy Scouts or implies my role when I am in game. :D

He's from the Elric Saga - worthwhile reading :D
On the subject of Gaunt's - I've read them all and I've just re-re-re-read Eisenhorn and Ravenor by the same author.

Oh the joys of being amongst geeks :(

Yes, I've seen mention of the Elric saga, but I think reading the synopsis may have put me off. Can't remember. I liked Bastable, so reading a book in which he is secondary doesn't appeal to me so much >.>
I re-read the Eisenhorn trilogy before moving onto Gaunt's Ghosts, on the last couple of hundred pages for The Saint Omnibus, then onto Traitor General, which was the first Ghosts book I ever read. It was a gift, and got me into the series. I'm re-reading it all again so I can then read the newest book, which is sat on my shelf, still new.
After that, I'll move onto Ravenor again, since I got those out of storage along with Eisenhorn and Gaunt.
Have you tried reading David Weber's Honor Harrington series? It's great if you like sci-fi ship combat. I love that series.
I want to read more of the Uplift saga by David Brin, but those books are so damn hard to get ahold of.

My old STO handle just seemed appropriate. It was either that or my normal handle of "Liquid."
