Oh, that explains it. I've come back from a rather long break and did notice the mechs I play the most felt a bit more sluggish but thought maybe I was just my memory being a bit off. I've definitely noticed the more then usual engagement times.

The weirdest thing I've noticed is how nobody even mentions using the cave to flank in Frozen City, or use it at all in fact whereas when I last played regularly a while back it was a very common strategy. As for the Forest Colony cave, I've run around that map in the testing grounds constantly remembering the LoTR quote " I have no memory of this place " with only a few landmarks and routes that are familiar. Was looking for the cave used for flanking on that map and either I'm always missing it or it simply doesn't exist anymore.

Seems pretty hard to flank now in the Frozen cave, as seismic and 12 mechs instead of 8 upped the difficulty of completing a successful tunnel rush. As far as the Forest cave, I don't think it exists anymore...or at least not like it used to.

It is still the same "Lol-laz0r-alpha warrior: Online / Peek-a-boo" version as before. Not much has changed. Why make brawling and exposing yourself rewarding? You know risk vs. reward decisions in their gameplay which good games try to support.

Hmm. It can be very rewarding but the whole team has to be on one page for it. What's more hilarious than rushing a laservomit team with a good team of brawlers? If initial alpha damage is spread well, laserboats go down quickly.

It's far harder to pull of tho and needs the right team and teamwork. ~

Time to play Mist Lynx.

At least, that's what I've been doing.

The OP said that he was bored, not that he hated himself and deserved to be flogged.

Bored of carrying bad pugs? Mix it up. Bring no armor LRM boats, try to get a flamer kill, run nothing but machineguns, bring nothing but a narc and tag.

It is just me, or the latest balance pass removed all excitement from the game? It seemed more lively and dynamic before Steam patch hit, now it's seems like a shadow of it's former self. Kinda feel sad about it.

On the contrary, the game had become more fun for me. CW is now finally more balanced and I am having a blast in it. :D

But...if OP plays Dwarf Fortress, Losing is FUN!

Really though. If you're bored with the game, you can do one of two things: pick up a challenging mech to play, or quit for a while and come back when you're not burned out. I picked up a splatfox a while back and I'm having a blast, especially with the recent SRM buffs.

There's so many mechs now they should lower prices on less popular ones to spice things up a little.

For me it's the complete opposite. The metagame is more varied now, there is a better mix of clan and IS, the slower movement forces more thought about where you go and punishes mistakes harder which is good. SRMs are viable weapons. Lasers are still a bit too dominant but that was the case before the patch too.

I've no idea what you think is less dynamic about it since you don't actually explain why.

For me I wasn't hit all too hard by the movement speed skill tree nerfs since most of the mechs I play were either already fast or got buffs that made them faster than they were before the nerfs.

I was playing Black Knights, Executioners, Atlas, Locust, and leveling up various mechs. I also usually didn't play elited mechs all that much since I was mostly just leveling things, currently sitting on mastered maulers, elited Kit Foxes, and a bunch of other mechs that I won't waste space listing.

EDIT:
Definitely noticed that nice SRM buff though. My quad SRM6 Atlas S is happy.

Still too much Laser vomit around, but now LRM spamming is once again on the table as well

I'm seeing less and less stomps and a wider range of weapons being used in the games I'm in (yes, even though it's still laser dominance), so I'm not too sure what excitement you're missing.

It has become boring and generic since quirks changed. They dumbed everything down too much for steam release I think..

Yeah I missed it when the Huginn and DRG-1N had quirks like this.

Oh wait, no I don't.

Can't be that boring if you've kept playing for 3 years enough to get yourself into T2.
