Clans Pushed Back To Their Start Planets

It would be very boring if it wasn't possible for the IS to crush the clans like right now, just as it would be boring if it wasn't possible for clans to reach and surround terra like happened before the reset.
Game balance in terms of tech is good, but trying to keep the map balanced is bad. The map needs to have factions winning and losing over time or it's not meaningful.

Is it the costs of the mechs putting people off?

That has always been the case, but I would conjecture that it is more the case now. IS v Clan balance right now makes clan mechs more expensive than people are willing to pay.
At least among new players.

It is really too easy to game the system, and I find it funny that anybody takes the map seriously. It takes less effort to switch to the winning side after reading where the units are dropping than it does to get 6 folks together and drop as a team on the loosing side. Just learning to never defend is half the battle

At this rate, we will be doing Tuk3 in the actual year 3052.
The 'sphere will be fighting themselves for a while since all the power gamers are there.

Was a majority of the captures due to just non/inadequate participation of the defending forces?
Considering how overwhelming some of the merc groups numbers can be I have seen situations where there are 3 full groups attacking a planet for every ONE full group defending it.
Those kinds of numbers are hard to 'balance' against as they are transient, and as we have recently seen, a bit subject to 'flavor of the month' (ie: who has the 'mechs that make it easiest to win)...

Why does this sound like what the clans said back when everyone pointed at CW as the defining reason for clan mechs being OP?
There is some food for thought.

There's no story here. This is an arena shooter. The lore just gives some context to this game, but the details are irrelevant.
I mean, how stupid would it be if Star Wars: Battlefront was designed to always let the Empire win on Hoth?

When they remove the part that says "a battletech game" Ill agree
Till then theyre pretending to attach this game to the lore

That's not how it works, don't be dense. "BattleTech" is just the theme of the game, just like "Star Wars" is the theme for Battlefront.

Still waiting on Periphery powers and other Clans. They could even ally them with another existing power by default, to keep the queues concentrated. For example, Magistracy of Canopus could be allied with Liao, Clan Nova Cat could be allied with the Smoke Jaguars, and the Steel Vipers could be an ally for the Jade Falcons. Just a thought...

No, Mechwarrior is what youre looking for. Battletech is a different IP. Just likwe Mechwarrior was a different RP in paper.

All the previous mechwarrior games were also set in the battletech universe. When compared to them, MWO is a lot closer to the source material...

Clans are disorganized, lower population and their mechs cost too much for new players, so we join IS..
They meet other IS in CW and join those groups.

Clan mechs arnt worth it, most are suffering from the brainless nerfbat orgy, PGI is celebrating on a monthly basis
most clan mechs are not competetive anymore and is there an end of the Nerf-Party?
Certainly not,.. You never know what Nerf for Clans Russ and his IS fanclub come up with next
C double heatsinks are nerfed to IS single heatsink Capacity, and heat is a very central point in the game
Weaponry on Clanside is growing massively more heat and Clan get ridiculous Ghostheat penalty
Most Clan Assaults are nerfed to Clay Pigeons and considerated chassis based Quirks you will not see on a Clan mech Mechs like the Whale just have red quirks nothing else
PPC and UAC suffer from Bugs known for years and arnt fixed Gauss got Nerfed ( on both IS and Clan )
Clans are just for Players who fight against the difficulties, for those who kill theyr opponents certainly not because of a 20 ft long quirklist and those who are not giving up so easyly
So tell me Why should a new player choose to play Clan?
