Don't **** up the only map that provides a place for long ranged weaponry.

I always found Alpine on conquest good fun.

Assault is an abomination that needs a rework anyhow, and skirmish tends to play very similar 75% of the time on any map.

I would simply add some rocky cover to the big mountain (and elsewhere) to allow brawlers to close , but keeping the flavor of a longer ranged map with clear visuals.

Also, please make more clear visual maps. No more masses of trees / foliage / fog / blizzard. It just makes me play toggling thermal vision , which is annoying.

There is no map left like Alpine Peaks. All other maps are filled with obstacles and other stuff. Alpine Peaks is really something special. Please do not remove it.

Never liked alpine, all around fail of a map for many reasons, like too much unused area followed by everyone trying to play mountain.

I say no. But only because we are getting a new snow/cold map to take its place. I also said no but that I want it to be updated and enlarged a bit and moved over to CW as a map to play in there.

Everyone seems to complain that Alpine Peaks forces long-range snipy/LRM-ey playstyles.
Everyone seems to overlook the fact that each map forces a playstyle or set of playstyles due to its geography.

People like or dislike specific maps because they don't enjoy the playstyles (or countering the playstyles) that those maps encourage.

If you don't like long-range Alpine combat, then sneak around behind the other hills and engage at medium/close range.
If you're not geared for long-range combat then don't just stand in the open under candy mountain! Improvise!
Coincidentally, the last match I played in 2015 was in a medium-range Huchback with no tools for long-range combat. I still got 4 kills in the base behind the mountain after simply WALKING AROUND IT. If you hug the cliff-face then they either have to jump down to fight you (IE allowing you to engage close range) or just let you past. Hmmmm STRATEGY.
It's an open map so obviously stay in the low parts to avoid sniper fire and keep moving. Come on... Tactics, guys!

In any map you're not comfortable with (due to player preference or mech build) just stick with your teammates and do something other than what the enemy want you to do.

The variety of playstyles presented is what gives each map its unique flavour. Everyone has maps they love, and everyone has maps they hate. Removing ANY map makes ALL of the maps eligible for scrapping, in principle.

TLDR:
KEEP ALPINE AS IT IS, OR WITH JUST A FEW TWEAKS TO CANDY MOUNTAIN (Make I8 and I10 climbable).
IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS, IT'S A DECENT MAP.

PS: Which CW map is that with all those jagged red rocks everywhere and that HUGE blazin blue sun?
"OUCH MY EYES OUCH MY FEET IS THIS HELL???"

Leave the maps alone and FIX the other pressing issues. Clean house first then redo the windows.

Alpine adds variety to a small selection of maps. Variety is good.

I thought about it for a while and decided to vote yes. By all means, give us "Polar Highlands." At the same time, why not just keep Alpine in the rotation? Flatten the mountain, put in some low ridges for more cover so units can move up without walking into a shooting gallery, and I don't think you need to get rid of it.

Alpine is my favorite map. Not just, because I like the longer ranged weapon systems, but most of all... it is nice, clear, cool, and shiny white.. and it's just beautiful clean.. (And has the highes FPS ever..)

It is very hard to see for me, that on the very-very rare occasions when, MM put it to vote, almost no one vote for it.. I can't understand why many people don't like it.. Almost every map has a focus point like that "peak".. It's like Terra's crater.. And even newer maps have focus points.. Even on Bug or on the New Forest Colony we almost fighting on the same points.. every time...

If you don't like the "Go for H9!" gameplay, don't erase the map, just put ALL droppoints somewhere to the left side of the map. That will move the place of the battle surley. (And on Alpine you can't brawl? I could play there even with my LBX-30 Ilya!... And I am not a brawler.)

I admit, I don't like some of the maps (Bug, Minning..) and I really hate Snowstorm City.. but I play on those maps too, with the hope, that perhaps once in a week I can play on Alpine too.. Don't kill my hope!

So, please let Alpine Peaks stay alive...

voting to keep, change spawn locations if need be but why ruin a map that offers something different to plain brawling always?

A unique map, that just needs some cover added to a few key areas (big rocks on the way up the hill for one)

I like the original Caustic Valley, and I miss it since it's been replaced with the new "version" of it.

I also like Alpine Peaks, and would dearly miss that too if/when it is removed. It has a lot of playing potential, often wasted on impatience and "common tactics". The map doesn't have much of an issue, it's the way players use it that leads to the issues. (There are areas that players could go to and spice up the game play, but instead they all go towards that one mountain predominant feature, and fight there.)

Actually the vote implies that it should RETURN AFTER being MODIFIED, doesn't it ?

On a different topic: would love to have all maps available in private lobby, incl. the old versions of river city / forest..

Yes, because we need more maps. I'm ok with alpine as it is now, but removing candy mountain isn't a problem for me at all. Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
What i would really like is to have the old conquest mode with one cap point in each corner of the map. With that layout, candy mountain was totally irrelevant.

We need a few more long range maps. Keep Alpine with changes to drop locations only. It is still fun to fight for the top of the mountain. It doesnt need to have drop ships or be used for CW 4v4. #savealpine

I voted yes, but I want to make it clear that I don't think the map needs any adjustment beyond perhaps moving the spawn points a little closer together and the conquest points farther away from each other. Fights happen over the center hill because that's where people are used to fighting. This is not a failure of the map, but rather a failure of the players. The skirmishes can be just as effectively fought in almost any other location as there is plenty of, and in many cases better, cover in other areas of the map. Even conquest in its current form can be approached in a few different ways. Unfortunately, these scenarios rarely play out because players just do the same thing they've always done instead of using a little imagination and, as a result, replacing the map will just lead to the same problems in a new environment.
