The Goons are awesome... they practise all the time

Up until this game came along I had barely headr of the Goons. I knew about the Something Awful forums, had heard a bit of them from the game EVE, but since I didn't visit those forums or play that game, my contact was minimal.

Once they showed up here, I heard and learned a lot more about them, and how to interact with them;


- they do like to troll. One of their favorite past times is baiting people, and they are generally pretty good at it. Not all of them though.

- If they discover you are annoyed, they keep working the angle to death.

- a few of them are excellent at it, while the others are just supporters

- If you find a weak spot, a flaw, or a contradiction in their story/argument (for instance the wonderful "Their Leader suggested people encourage a player in real life to commit suicide" story) they will ignore it completely. You see, they have figured out that to troll and troll well, you can't let the target/s know that they touched a sore spot.

- I'm sure I've played with a few by now, and probably played against a few as well. Haven't had any trouble either way. There have been a few posted incidents, which again they seemed to thoroughly enjoy getting people bent out of shape over, but overall the hype doesn't measure up to the reality.

- the best way to deal with this goonswarm invasion is to think like a goon, but behave like an adult. Mirror what they do and just refuse to acknowledge their baiting. Too many people can't do this and that rewards their actions.

- You don't argue with children seeking attention, you ignore them and don't get baited into giving them what they want. As far as spankings go, I'm all for it, but I'll leave that up to the Admins. They have the big stick, and as I said in another thread, they will use it if anyone threatens their future income.

By the number of Goons I've seen with founders tags, I'm pretty sure Goons are the future income of MWO. That and Ponies.

See the yellow mottled section that pretty much controls the center and north part of the map? Those are Goons. Kinda related are the guys to the west that are blue called Test alliance please ignore, yeah theyre pretty much Goons too.

Yes but what is a goon? I hear many people describing things associated with goons and groups composed of goons, but what does it mean to BE a goon?

No, I'm saying they're NOT goons. Whether or not they have a relationship with goons isn't what you were talking about, you said they were "pretty much Goons". Which I suspect they would take issue with.

Since I'm pretty sure you never played that other game I would suggest you stop while you're ahead. Don't want to make a fool out of yourself and all.

I've played a game or two of MWO and can say from experience that the people who "speak out about goons" ruin far more matches than goons ever do. They disconnect, sit at spawn and refuse to play, or just flat out TK goons all the time not realizing that we eat that kind of stuff like ice cream. Goons are simply a foil to hide the fact that they cannot deal with their own issues and need someone to blame for their problems.
