This post is just my few thoughts about the game and things that might've been mentioned in other topics (if so, I apologize in advance). But I'll begin with few words about myself.

So I've recently (it was like month ago) started playing this game and up to this point I've managed to pump 130 hours of playtime into it... and I'm having a blast. Been punching through enemy lines with my Atlas and supporting bigger guys in nimble Cataphract.

Things that I wished the game would allow me to do :

When I play my Cataphract I usually try and find in my group some Assault I can glue myself to and support/cover him/her while watching out for any flanking/backstabbing. It's all fun and games but at the beggining of the game when in "blob mode" you can easily loose that particular player between buildings, other mechs and stuff that starts to fly around (like LRM, PPC and ER-LL). I wish I could highlight this particular player (just for me) so I won't loose him, something like a guard mode Posted Image.
Maybe apart from that game should have different colours for classes and/or different shapes for icons on map/mini-map e.g. triangle = heavies, square = assaults, arrow = lights, circle = mediums (with small arrows to know the direction they are facing).

Other thing is there should be an easy and quick way to ping stuff on the map/minimap for people to notice. Like ive spotted some one over here *ping*, movement/seen ams bullets flying over this hill *ping* etc.

I won't mention mech bay topic bcs that seems to be on everyones mind at one point or another.

As a new player back when I was getting my first mech I've felt there wasn't much choice for trial mechs. I mean there are options to choose from and there is supposedly a rotation which changes those available atm for some different ones. But how often that rotation happens? How many mechs are changed around? No idea.
On top of that back then I wished I could do a little more customization apart from tweaking weapon groups. There should be a limited equipment pool that is available for particular mech. Players could toy around to get a better feeling of the thing they are driving.

I remember the official first trailer. Where is all that graphical eye candy gone? I know it was only a trailer with nice aftereffects and pimped out specificly for that. But, when I've watched gameplay from earlier versions overall gameplay felt a bit more juicier and sparkier. LRM's were doing circles while flying towards the target, flying lasers were highlighting stuff a lot more then than now...and where are my destructible buildings? Felt like there was more effects in the game/on the screen.

This game might need small graphical update to the terrain/maps. Blurred and wonky textures in jungle maps... with grass that is as big as cars...reaaallly. Or it's just that battlefront terrain memory that sits in my mind Posted Image

This last thing might sound cheesy and totally abominable. I'm not that familiar with the series and I'm thinking about getting through previous Mechwarrior games but I digress. So keep that in mind I have no idea if that thing was even possible/allowed.

So I can clearly see that few of them mechs have hands... I wonder why are those in place?
Was their creator at some point considering giving them options like holding stuff? grabbing other mechs?...dare I say giving them some melee weapons?
Imagine a fight :
You are sitting in your atlas in River City between buildings, and you shoot at stuff. In corner of your eye you see Jenner zipping around and smacking peoples behinds and you anticipate his next move to be zipping right behind you. So you turn around and wait behind the corner and just before he is about to run past, you stick your arm and grab him by the leg Posted Image, or tripping him over or just plainly blocking his movement for few seconds.
If I let my imagination fly I would go as far as giving some melee weapons and an option to grab and smack mechs. That would be a fun thing to watch - grab a guy, both you and him are locked in place for as long as you want/few sconds and while that is happening you can smack him with the other hand or rip something out of him and then bash his head in with it. Then assault mechs type can have whole new meaning.

TL DR version
Highlighting specific mech that you don't want to loose?
Map/minimap pings?
map/minimap icons change?
Trial mechs rotation specificly detailed which are changed, how often, etc
Trial mech limited customization (weapon swapping?)
Graphical tweaks to terrain, scaling down grass, improving textures?
Melee?

Good hunting fellow pilots.

A couple of the things you are asking for without knowing is stuff that some of us who played previous games have been asking for since the beginning of closed beta in 2012.

In older MW games you could select your own team much like you select the enemy team. It would show their status and their weapons and obviously track them. We've asked for this forever.

There is a minimap ping system in place. If you select commander you can use the battle grid on B to place markers

Different icons would be good but some mechs are a bit funny, take the ice ferret or cicada. These don't play like mediums but like lights. Gargoyle is a heavy in assault clothes. It may well work and really isn't a bad idea

The trials change every now and then but not often enough. How would you let someone partially configure a mech?

The game used to be prettier with nicer damage, nicer movements and so on but performance was pretty poor. Much of it went to give the players on potatoes playable fps.

As for melee, I'll leave this here http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hatchetman

Trial weapon customization - few variations that can be done for that particular model like option atlas whatver
A ) 2x ML, 2xLRM 15+ART, 1x AC 5
B ) 2x LPL, 2xSRM 6, 2xU/AC 5
C ) 2x ER-LL, 2xLRM 10, 2xAC 5

just give few different weapon setup to choose from rather than giving specific weapons. Should be done easily as long as it stays within tonnage requirements, about 2 tons of ammo per weapon/1-2 heatsink per energy weapon, and above 80% of armour ON.

As for graphics. Ok I understand why it was toned down. But there are people who have more powerful pc's that don't require coal/hamster power/wishful thinking to run stuff...wheres my "extreme uber eye candy graphic" option?

Mechs have hands because they were designed that way in Battletech. They are indeed capable of grappling other mechs. (This is more of an inner sphere trait)

One thing I always fussed about was the lack of a single player campaign. There is no function for melee at this time because they either don't know how to code it, it because they're too lazy to. Cryengine isn't easy to work with for certain things, such as AoE. Cryengine has a built in area of effect damage that makes things that I've been asking for (Long Tom artillery cannon on mechs) hard to code.
