Hi!
New player here, and i discovered that i cannot run this game on true fullscreen mode, it will automaticly alt tab me out of the game. And when i try to reopen the window it'll alt tab again immedietly.

It's as if the resolution is to big for the screen or something.

1920x1080 with a 1080p monitor. (Or well it's a laptop)

In most games fullscreen-windowed is just a huge resourse hog for me, so i guess it's the same here.
Anyone got any idea why this is happening and if there's a way to fix it?

Windowed-fullscreen works alright now with some tweak config i found here on the forums. But i still would like to play in true fullscreen.

Specs if that matters: i7 3610qm, geforce 640m, 6gb ram and ssd drive.

There are two reasons it may be kicking you out. In fullscreen mode the game is set to a resolution other than your laptop's screen resolution, the other is an alert/pop-up window (systray area) is popping up and kicking the game out. You can alter how the notifications activate.

When you are in full windowed mode, how are you attempting to go into full screen? Are you using Alt Enter? Or are you using the settings/video, picking the correct resolution then Full Screen before hitting save?

And before proceeding, do you alt tab out of the game often? If you do it is better if you play in Full Windowed mode than Full Screen.

It's not the systray, it only happens when i change the resolution and the game tells me to relogg for the changes to take affect.
Once relogging, and logging in (loading mech area) it keeps automaticly alt tabbing me, i can't force it to be open. My only option is to close mwo via tab manager.

Edit: And then remove the "profile" in the C:\Users\SleeZy\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online folder so i can redo my settings.

I'm using the settings ingame and it asks me to restart client for change to take effect.

I rarely alt tab out of game, however if i do with the fullscreen window mode activated it only works if i've say firefox open or any other window. It's like the game needs something else to focus on else it won't alt tab. (this is in windowed-fullscreen)

It works as it is now, it's just that i feel like i can squeeze extra fps in if i can run the game in fullscreen-mode. Since in windowed it needs to keep windows aero and the like in the memory - which is a waste when i want to game only. Posted Image

Trying to set the resultion i posted 1920:1080 and my monitor is just that, so i dunno. I do notice though, when i try force the window to open (when it alt tabs) it's slightly missaligened, which leads me to believe that the resolution it actually settles is to high. Which is kinda weird though.

Sorry for bad english/explanations, english isn't my native language. Posted Image

Hmm...Okay, your last post is actually helpful. The only time the client should be asking you to restart the game is when changing from DX9 to or from DX11.

Is MWO DX setting version set to auto or to dx9c or dx11?

As for Aero, what OS are you running?

I should ask, what laptop, brand and model, do you have? is 1920x1080 the native resolution?

I did use d11 at first, but it was way to laggy vs dx9.
I'm running win7
And yes it's my latops true resolution Posted Image Also tried my HDTV but it didn't work either.

Laptop is fujitsu nh532
http://www.notebookc...32.85613.0.html
Altho that link isn't the true specs but well, same brand etc.
Just that i've 640m and 6gb and not 8.

No issues with other games (so far)
I'm running via steam if that helps.

Edit: this is weird i did run it with a custom cfg file earlier and it was smooth (still is) However i wanted to post it here, now it only says:
r_Driver="DX9"
d3d9_TripleBuffering=0
r_txaa=0
r_msaa=0
r_postaa=2

Edit2:
http://mwomercs.com/...710hq-gtx-860m/
This is what i used for smoother fps, it did help, but as mentioned the cfg reseted itself, but somehow my good fps remains... :P However that's not the issue atm...

So i guess settings resetted itself? It was optimized for nvidia 800 series (laptop) (Still applied to my card, also had nothing to do with the issues mentioned in my post) The errors i encountered soon as i launched the game, so googled for solutions.. but neither worked.
Either way still works smoothly so i can't complain there.
It's just that i want true fullscreen, not windowed-fullscreen.

Putting this post. I am waiting a fresh install of MWO to finish download (I did not want to mess with my current installation, plus I am doing laundry so I have the time...Posted Image ) And I believe I may have repeated some of the items listed in the thread you linked there.

That info is/should be in the game.cfg file and the file itself should not be modified but it is located in the saved game/MWO folder. This may be why the game is asking you to restart the game. You are changing the default, seeing things are not as they should be, the game recreates the file, etc...

The user.cfg file should not have the above info in it but it is to be placed in the primary MWO folder, not the saved games/MWO folder.

So...
game.cfg, located in saved games/mwo. delete and let MWO recreate the game.cfg, do not touch this file.
user.cfg, user created and to be located in primary MWO directory, different from saved games folder. (will test later if the game will also read it from the saved game directory)....DO NOT INCLUDE the quoted portion in the user.cfg.

In your Saved Games/MWO/Profiles/Your Profile name and rename the attributes.xml file. This is to allow MWO to recreate it.

Do not launch game yet.
*****
Have you updated or re-installed your video card drivers?

Open up Nvidia control panel, create a profile for MWO. Set to default/performance and in Power Management mode, set to Max performance. This ensures it is your Nvidia card being used and not switching to Intel GPU on the CPU.

System power options, set to best performance.

******
Start patcher but do not hit play, upper right corner click on gear icon, and run the repair tool. Are you running 32 or 64bit Win7?

Click Play once the repair tool is finished. iirc the game itself starts in full screen mode, but I am installing a fresh game to double check.

****************
Just to double check, there are 3 parts of the game. The launchpad/patcher, the frontend (mechlab/store/etc) and the combat portion. I will see in a few but originally the launchpad was a windowed part while the front end/UI had a different resolution than the combat screen. When you see the screen partially off the screen is it the UI or both the UI and combat screen? Have you tried dropping into the practice fields?

That was an interesting adventure.

Okay, installed to a new location but it still uses the folder in the saved games/mechwarrior online. Renamed that folder to something else.

Started game, defaults to 1280x720 and DX9 mode. Selected 1920x1080 and full screen mode. Saved. Went full screen. Changed DX9x to DX11. This is the only time that it said I had to restart game. Did not restart game, then selected DX9c, save, it asked me to restart game for it to take effect.

And tested putting user.cfg in the saved games/Mechwarrior Online folder. It does not read that file in that location, as mine has a FPS limit in it.

And the game resolution/settings are based on the account logging in, as it creates a new attributes.xml file in the new user account (Pilot's name).

Edit - PGI has locked in the name of the actual game folder name/save games folder name. The install program will allow you to install anywhere but the final folder name is drive:\\whereever you put it\Mechwarrior Online then followed by the saved games\Mechwarrior Online. There is not an option to gaming folder name, thus allowing it to create a different saves game folder name. Example.. drive\games\MWO then the saves games\MWO\profiles etc..

I appriciate your reply!

But i think you missunderstood med here.
I had this issue since i installed the game, and launched the game for the first time. When i then selected fullscreen and it wanted me to restart, i did. But after that the game wouln't function due it would alt tab me.

Which then led me to google some solutions, i found one eventually how to reset the config. So since then i'm running windowedfullscreen. If i try to select fullscreen it tells me to relogg, and if i do -> same error.

I tried to get my OBS to record it so i could show, but i can't get it to show any image at all atm, except for PoE oddly enough.

So the tweak i posted above is something i tried AFTER i noticed this weird alt-tabbing behavior. Posted Image

But i'm sitting around 60fps atm so i guess it's all fine, but i realy do want to run it in pure fullscreen. Posted Image

EDIT: So user.cfg tweaks no longer works? (From the guide above) Or did i edit wrong file?
Either way it must've worked somehow as i had >20fps earlier and now it's smooth as butter...
I'm confused Posted Image

EDIT2: The solution was painfully easy... - restart the computer, now it works like it should. xD
Thanks for the support!
