It would be too easy to tilt matchmaker to not include a person's performance on your team.

With a system like that I might be tempted to block terrible players so that I don't get them on my team, but if I did that I wouldn't have anyone to play with

IMO whether or not the matchmaker works is 100% irrelevant
The fact that "fun" for most people is entirely based on whether they win or not just seems wrong to me. The game should be fun regardless of whether you win or lose.
I definitely think theres room for improvement in that regard. One of the major problems with the current gamemodes is the avalanche effect that basically makes it unfun to be on the losing team. Because theres little or no chance whatsoever to turn the game around once youre losing. Theres almost zero potential for upsetting the expected outcome of a game.
Thats one of the huge reasons I preferred 8v8 over 12v12 because in 8v8 you could have upsets where one person could kill like 4 mechs by themselves and completely turn the game around. I would really like to see the quickplay gamemodes go back to 8v8 and 12v12 be reserved for CW gamemodes only.

Putting in a safe-space in MWO seems like a waste of resources to me.
