So in which universe is it logical to put sniping weapons in the lowest portion of your mech?
In a universe where arms are not static.
Also in a universe where mech fighting was similar to knights facing off on stead. And Mechwarriors were considered the knights of the battlefield.
You think in pure gameplay terms, to you, honor, man to man fights, ect, aren't a factor, you're just in it to get kills and win the match.
For me, when I load up Mechwarrior Online, I'm loading in to BE a mechwarrior... see that Dragon symbol next to my name... House Kurita, Mechwarriors from that house are fashioned after the Samurai of old. Where Honor Duels are common.
PPC's are, actually NOT a sniping weapon, that's actually a very false notion. The sniping weapons of the Battletech universe are Gauss, AC2, and arguably AC5/UAC5, and ERLL's [I suppose you can put ERPPC's in this, but not standards]. PPC's are actually the energy weapon equivalent of the AC10, it packs a decent punch at the cost of heat, but with the benefit of no volatile ammo, it can reach to a decent range, but not insanely far. It's ment to be a decent hitting weapon without ammo, nothing more.
Now it DOES have a decent range profile, but even then, it's not "Sniper levels" of range.
