I usually drop in once every 6-8 to ask some questions and get on and comment on the game itself.
Let me start with I was invited into MWO towards the end of closed beta. A battletech buff naturally I was excited and I did play thousands of matches in the "archive" time since. Id jump back and forth from MWO to Firefall, both were heavy development along the same timeline. Eventually MWO's balence issues and repetitive nature drove me off from really playing hear and being in the community.

Around the time UI 2.0 launched I unofficially left MWO where over the course of the time since I became essentially the leader of Firefalls PvP community. Organizing and running 4-6 hour long dev sponsored events with dev sponsored rewards ranging from 200-600$ in game goodies and currencies. Well as some of you may of saw in the gaming news recently that Red5 (studio of Firefall) has had all sorts of industry snake stuff going on.

Well I did my typical drop into MWO for a month or so recently and I really got to say: This is really fantastic. It almost makes me wish I didn't spend 100 some odd days of gameplay into said other game. Everything is crisp. The world designers revamped the maps to make combat feel right and their familairness with the cryengine is more than apparent in their great work.

The community moderators do monthly road maps, feedback, Sean podcasts, giveaways, knows his game well and enjoys their work which is really important.

The combat designers have overcome obstacle after obstacle. Yes b aelence has swayed from left to right over time, and then back forth again and it can be fusterating but these guys have the task of balancing a game that receives almost none stop content and with dozens of mechs and variants of each, really they've accomplished something I've personally never saw in a F2P model or even a triple A title. Yeah we still have some issues but its nothing like the days of 8 man ECM D-D Atlas drops.

I think I may be back to MWO for good, I just want to give another shout out to PGI for keeping a series and fandom we all love and enjoy alive. Even if you disagree with me, a MW game is better than none right?

Hats off to PGI, congratulations on the steam launch and cheers to years of development to make a solid mechwarrior modern experience. o7

I'm not sure if this post is genuine or satirical.

It's just... Too positive to be genuine.

Yeah Ditto

CW is still a mess, i am still dropping agasint the same people match after match in the solo queue due to lack of player base, and balance is complete and utter malarky.

I agree that CW has its issues is cleary unbalenced now if you're a clanner. As far as IS vs IS goes its above awesome and I dont personally really ever had issues with finding a match.

I really want to bring up some 'areas for improvement' but nah, it would be off-topic for this thread.

Really since the leaving of IGP, this game has been cruising at a healthy pace of updates, both fine tuning and content expanding, not to mention the direction has been much more playerbase-oriented.

Might as well give a shout-out to all the thematic events and challenges, such as the Hardcore Unit Challenge, Battle of Tukayyids 1 and 2, Oceanic Takeover challenge and many more. The rewards have been generous and the systems for earning have evolved from player feedback after people told their gripes of the early events. I think PGI is handling events well.

Funnily enough, I just decided to start dropping again after the Steam launch. I figured that by (that) launch the game would have to be more professional and have a lot of the post-CW problems ironed out. I'd seen promising things in the post IGP era, but what seemed to be a lot of inexperience being supplemented by enthusiasm.

Having given myself a break from the game has freshened me up and taken some jaded edges off too. I like it, I like what PGI has done.

That being said, I'd hoped to see more non-saleable content. The focus is still on more mechs, rather than maps or modes. That's ok, considering that I'm pleased to see some of the maps have been tweaked at least, so that aspect hasn't been completely ignored and I do want PGI to make enough money out of this to keep improving it.

All in all, I'm fairly fresh back to the game after 12 months or so off, but I like what I see so far.
