i mean, really???
you cant melee in this game, the kodiak claws are beyond worthless.
on the other hand can you imagine how extremely good and competitive would the Blood Asp be with those high mounted hardpoints?

A glass cannon.
That's goes without saying, this wasn't really an option due to tech limitations (no Heavy Lasers). Easy thing to change (HML=ERML in weight, and are smaller), but not something PGI has done very often (SadCat P is the J variant with MGs instead of AP Gauss is the best example I can think of)

Claw I always felt was just there for looks as clans hate HtH and avoid it if they could.
as to looks I guess the Blood Asp are alright.

The Kodiak's claws were only cosmetic in Lore anyway.
They're not meant for combat. Just to look cool.

1) It's from 3060. That's almost decade in the future. Yes, I know that PGI handles the timeline loosely. But still.
2) It's very rare in the Inner Sphere (practically unknown during the Clan Invasion).
3) Heavy Lasers are not in the game.

I was thinking more along the lines of a creepy smile of a killer that would be like it is saying 'you die today'....

I don't know. It's just overgrown Puma. The same speed, more or less the same armor, more or less the same podspace.
.Yes, it has Jump Jets. However, those jump jets are hardwired, not podded.

That head looks like Vectorman picked up a power-up that turned him into a mech. I like it.
