Finally I found the solution! After deactivating the so called XBOX-DVR recording feature, which in integrated in Windows 10 everything works smooth and I can finally start the game in 1080p fullscreen on my main Monitor.
Thanks a lot to all the people who contributed in this thread and tried to help me :))
Most helpful community I ever met! Kudos to all of you.

Probably didnt actually fix the problem, its just using DX9 which as for the OP didn't produce the issue.

Congratulations on getting your video issue figured out! :-)

Now, to answer your question, "So where you got the information that the newest nvidia drivers are not compatible with Win10 ?"

In the Nvidia control panel; I click Help, Updates. The Nvidia Update dialog box appears. I click Check For Updates. That opens a browser window at a screen offering driver version 361.43. I note that the list of operating systems that this driver is compatible with does not include Windows 10 (see attached screen shot). But I click Agree and Download, anyway. The new driver downloads...

I click Run, am asked to confirm that I give the installer permission, then confirm the default installation directory. The files copy over and the installer starts. The first action of the installer is a system check. During the system check the installer stops and displays the following message: "X NVIDIA Installer cannot continue. This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows." Please see attachment #2.

And that is where I get the information that the newest nvidia drivers are not compatible with Win10. :-)

There must be some other copy of that driver version that is compatible. You're using it, after all. I'd appreciate it if anybody could tell me how to find it.

Good Luck and Good Hunting,

Tommy

The Xbox feature enabled have caused other types of issues with this game and other games. May be when the OP says Windows 10, we should be asking, have you disabled all the Xbox features??? I will be asking that!!!

Thanks for the link! I DL'd and installed the 361.43 driver (10.18.13.6143). The machine seems fine and MWO plays fine, set at 1920X1080, Full Window and DX11.

You can get the driver at Nvidia's website as well. They just create a separate W10 version, and it's easily searchable in the OS dropdown.

I'm not sure why yours sent you to the wrong version.

Neither am I. I do my updates through GFE and it's never given me that problem.

I didn't read the complete thread, so I apologize if I repeat or miss something mentioned previously.

If this is your first NVidia card, then you need to familiarize yourself with the NVidia Control Panel. Bring it up. Select "Display" in the left panel. From that select "Set up multiple displays". Set up which display is primary/secondary, how they interact, etc. Next, if you want, select the entry above that, "Adjust desktop size and position". Change, or not, anything you feel is needed.

There is currently a known issue for the GFE downloading the incorrect version of the driver package. NVidia is "working to resolve the problem" at this time. :)

But that's probably why you were sent the wrong driver.

Any way to turn the xbox dvr thing off without logging into this stupid xbox app?

Just installed win10.

edit: googled and pasted something in powershell, now the app and the overlay are gone, good riddance.

I don't understand why this is only an issue for some people I've never turned it off... Didn't know it even existed tbh

I'm not a fan of overlays, especially if you can't turn them off.

powershell was faster than creating a Microsoft account.

Sorry not what i meant. As in I don't have an overlay yet i have never turned it off, because i didn't know it was even a thing.

Wonder if it's only on the standard Win 10 installs?

Every time I started a game it said "do this to record", or "do this for a screenshot". Clean win10 pro install.

That is part of the Xbox app. Do you log into a stand alone account, one that does not need an internet connect for verification? It is possible those that do not see app on Windows 10 are logging into such accounts. I have no plans on enabling the Xbox App to test it though :)

I log in via a MS account.

I skipped the Microsoft account thing, but you have to log in to one to get to the settings of the xbox app.
