I tried to pay in coffee beans, but PGI denied that too.

ROFL that's awesome. I can buy those gift cards with bitcoin, so now I can buy mechs with bitcoin! yay!

Or you could just use bitcoins. Thats one of the options.

This is amazing. I know that Starbucks can combine smaller amounts on several cards to a single card. Then you could use it to purchase something here.

I went to Starbucks and complained about my overheated mech.

They gave me a free macchiato.

If only I could use my subway points card (not the same as a gift card) to buy mc, I have enough for a free footlong!

Makes great use of those small left over amounts.

You do know bitcoins can be spent in increments of 0.00000001BTC right? You don't have to spend a full BTC.

You have to have the dollars converted to CBills.

Ok... I completely forgot you can do this.

So... who wants to figure out the best conversion rate of buying unwanted gift cards online to shiny mechs?

The real question for those paying with Subway cards: just how many foot long BMT's is a Battlemaster worth?

Edit:

So I went over to the store, the gift store, and the buy MC tab and it seems like there is inconsistency with this. When I tried the MC tab, sure enough I was able to get to the menu letting me put in just about any gift card you can think of. When I tired in the gift store, it did not get that option however and appeared to be limited to major credit cards. I am wondering if that inconsistency reflects the OP's problem. Perhaps Xsola was set up for the broader acceptance of gift cards at one point and is no longer...and it just hasn't been corrected in the whole system? Anyone else try to actually use an "odd" gift card?

Intrigued by this thread (I was one of those who thought it was a joke at first), I found a Best Buy gift card and tried to use it to buy MC. First I verified that the card did indeed have value on it ($100). Then went to the add MC tab. When you click on pay with other options you get the screen shot that was posted above saying "some popular payment options". One of those is 100+ gift cards. I tried that route. Put in all the info (Identified the retailer in the drop down menu, put in card number and pin). You then click on "check balance" and a red notice appears stating that the system only accepts cards with a "minimum value of $10.00 and a maximum value of $1000.00." The card I was using had a value of $100.00 so it would appear to be acceptable. Alas, the check out would not advance past the "check balance" tab.

So, despite the system apparently being set up to accept an assortment of gift cards, the system apparently does not work in all cases. Btw: the system is intended as a trade in for the full value of the card regardless of the purchased item's value...i.e. buying $50 worth of MC with a $100 card...will take the entire value of the card...if/when the system is fixed to actually work that is. Now that I think about it, I am wondering if the the intention of the system is that the "full value" mentioned above is referring to a required overage relative to the purchase (i.e. the value of the card needs to be $10-1000 OVER the value of what you are attempting to purchase)?

So I have some Starbucks cards laying around, transferred the balances to one card and tried to trade my coffee beans for stompy mechs. It did not work, if someone could fix this I'd be willing to give PGI all that sweet sweet gift card money I will never use otherwise.

So I contacted Xsolla support just for funzies. Here is what they said.

Xsolla, on 20 January 2016 - 01:48 AM, said:

Describe your problem to start a chat with Xsolla support. Leave us your email to get the answer as soon as possible.

me: trying to use a Starbucks card through your system. Tried emptying browser cache, cookies etc. tried using a different browser. I just get error 2001: payment method unavailable at this time

Just a moment...

Nika:
Hello!

me: hello

Nika: Paygarden is a gift card provider that allows you to redeem more than 100 types of gift cards. By using these gift cards you forfeit the full ownership of the card to PG. Please note that it may have high commission rate. In order to find out how much of the card balance can be converted into the online goods please click on "Check Balance". After you make the payment if you have any unused balance after the commission it will be added to you

me: when I click check balance I get the error

Nika: Unfortunately, you cannot use this card for this purchase. Please, try to use an alternative payment system.

Usually it means that there is not enough balance to buy this product.

me: well the purchase is 20 dollars and the card has 20 dollars

I checked the balance on Starbucks' site

it says payment system fee $0

Nika: How much is your product?

me: 20

I cant even click the check balance button though, I don't even get as far as trying to pay

Nika: There is a rather high commission rate with starbucks to paygarden

Please, in order to make this purchase you should use card with a higher balance.

me: ummm ok. None of this is clear in the software interface anywhere. A dev should look into maybe making the software actually work, or maybe presenting accurate info.

"payment unavailable" is not a useful or accurate error

how much does the card need to have to work?

25? 30?

Nika: Wait a moment, please, I will be happy to check this for you

me: thank you

Nika: The card needs to be at least 32$.

me: wow

ok, thank you

Nika: There are some example trades: Trade $25 Starbucks gift card to receive 13.43 $ Trade $32 Best Buy gift card to receive 21.77 $ Trade $50 Walmart gift card to receive 34.88 $

me: I see

thank you for your assistance

Nika: You are welcome.

me: have a nice day

12 dollar transaction fee seems really really high. Also, if this is an accurate assessment of the problem, it does not say this anywhere in the interface where I try to make the purchase. It says $0 fee and when I click "check balance" it errors.
