most of the things I'm sure are true enough

but this one
there was a bug when spectating that you don't see the correct weapon groups
if you were indeed spectating

9/10 of the games i see so many players that don't have a clue how to play,

i've just come out of a game where most of the team were just all grouped together standind still on the left side of the map,
i warned them we were getting flanked and they just stood there,
in preavious games i see ppl with mouse sesitivity set too high and their crosshare is all over the place,
one guy/girl had all his/her 12 weapons bound to one key,

there are so many ppl that don't know the basics of shooters or even simple tactics,
it's just so frustrating.

I would like to get a couple of wins on the trot.

What mechs/builds are you using? In cases like this you want to be out-putting as much damage as you can as effectively as you can.
Basically the term "Carry Harder!" is true, and its present at all tiers of play, but i've noticed even at lower tiers players want to be hearded into a gameplan, even if its just a basic flank push.
Be Influential in your games.

If you want to move up in tiers it's important to understand how PSR works. PSR is based on your match score. I would say your first priority is figuring out how to avoid those sub-200 damage games. Your PSR does not move on a win if you have a sub 100 matchscore and it goes down a lot when you have a sub 100 match score on a loss. There are a lot of things that add to match score, but half your damage is converted into raw match score. So TL;DR: do more than 200 damage, don't TK people, and you will always be above 100.

If you can stay above 200 damage 90% of the time and your W/L ratio isn't too terrible, you will probably start making progress.

My advice is to start using an Airstrike consumable to pad those damage numbers.

@OP: Join a Unit and play in the group queue. I guarantee you'll climb out of T4 then. :)

The thing with Tier 4-5 is that you are in seal clubbing paradise. The number of seals on your team is usually balanced out by the seals on the enemy team.

You learn to watch your minimap and see where your guys go and where the enemy is, position yourself properly to deal as much damage on the enemy seals and walk away with a 2.0+ KDR, lots of c-bills and so on. If you kill more seals faster than the enemy non-seals can, then you increase your chances of winning.

I'm in Tier 4 right now, I played a lot in CB and recently came back so I don't get the boost for my placement. I easily win 90% of my solo drops. You want easy wins? Here is what you do.

Step 1) Learn the maps and have strategies for each one.

Step 2) Get a headset and use voice coms.

Step 3) Get company commander and put marks on maps where you want your team to go.

Step 4) Be vocal, don't just say go there once, keep reminding people. Go until you think you're starting to be annoying and then double that. Remember these people are dense and need constant reassurance.

Step 5) Don't be afraid to lead the NASCAR even if you're not in an atlas, people are more likely to follow your instructions if you're willing to lead the charge.

Step 6) Call targets, even when you're dead spectate and look for open targets. Call their letter, type of mech, and where to shoot.

Simply by leading and giving a coherent strategy to my team I am easily able to maintain a 90% win percentage when solo dropping. If you put the work into leading and giving your team concrete objectives that they can follow you'll start winning too. You just have to be vocal and willing to call people out. Light pilot behind your team, keep reminding people not to chase the squirrel in heavies. Call it out and tell your lights to chase it. What T4 players need is a leader, not a carry.

And just to make things easier, don't say the letter, use the NATO alphabet.

Don't blame the player blame yourself. Tier 4 is easy to get out of if you carry and credit to your team.

This. Too many noobs blaming people for not following their poorly thought out "tactics" and not following their orders.

They cry as if they're always a team composed entirely of tier 4s against a tier 1 team. You're a mixed tier 3-5 team playing against another mixed team.

Also, the tier system is skewed upwards. Any decent player netting 300dmg average will eventually reach at least tier 2.

If you don't get out of T4, the only person to blame is yourself. Maybe learn how to build, aim and shoot, instead of trying to be mechcommander from the get go?

You'll get out if T4 based on your performance, not your teams. It has an impact, sure. However if you do good and build good mechs you'll get out of t4 soon enough.

Not exactly right. While teams usually seem to be balanced tier-wise, the introduction of tiers themselves was heavily flawed - mostly because of mixing group and solo queue together (and in the beginning even CW matches) and somehow factoring in match count during a certain timeframe without players even knowing about that in advance.

So while they are balanced tier-wise, they are not balanced skill-wise. I see a significant number of matches where one side has a player with 1500 dmg while everyone else is sitting around 300. So criticizing the system used is indeed quite valid.

However, those are comparably minor setbacks at best, and should only delay an average player from climbing through the tiers, not straightout prevent all progress.

Come on, your opponent would just as likely be saddled with noobs and idiots.

It's a pub game: you win some, you lose some and you might also enjoy a few every now and again.

isn't a sign they don't know what there doing. If you do weapon groups in mechlab they come up as 1 group for those viewing them while dead.

I know as i've had people say the same thing to me and i have to point out, don't you seen my weapons firing in different stages?

I pugherd constantly. I'm on comms, grouching, calling targets.

M opener.

"Ok boys (or some other term that is often demeaning) let's not suck. Don't run off alone and get killed. Focus your fire, lock your targets. "

I get a few Amens etc. And I know I will have a crew that's not clueless (usually)

Sometimes they are just better, which is nice.

I've found if I can splash 3 enemies, we are winning most of the time.
400-500 damage too, though pinpoint enough damage can pull three kills with less.

I am high tier 4, in large part because my unit is full of good players and I am WAY outclassed then I group with them. I am actually too used to leading.

Next thing I do. Kael Pershaw. Reference to the Way of the Clans books. When Aiden Pryde was fighting off a whole Comstar company at the battle of Tukayyid, he had somebody in the air calling targets for him. I do it. With a vengence. Frankly, I'm probably better at that then I am at shooting stuff.

Learn how to Pugherd and you will climb out of the low tiers.

Group queues? Gotta play better. I struggle to not call the walk. I am rather aggressive and I know the "Hump and Poke" done right is usually a winner.

I dread making Tier 3. I think its gonna get hard.

It's an arbitrary level with no reward and no measurement of what cause it to go up/down or what it even means. Does Tier 4 mean you shoot better than Tier 5? Or maybe it's a combination or games played, times logged in, K/D ratio and the number of syllables in your avatar name.

Guys, it's just a NUMBER. I stopped caring about it after day 3 when I realise I don't even know what that number means.

Op: if the players around you are truely that bad, you should have very little trouble farming the ever loving **** out them. If you want really big numbers it's not exactly ideal to have too many good players on your team either.

It's not though. The game is drastically different between tier 1 and tier 4.

I'm a tier 1/2 player in terms of skill, but since I just came back into the game I don't have the boost and I'm in the middle of doing the climb from Tier 4. In solo drop games I can easily get 700+ damage every game and maintain a 90%+ win percentage. It's GREAT for farming cbills, but not so great in terms of having good games. When I group queue we match with other T1 players and the games are a lot more competitive and a lot more fun.
