The summoner is supposed to be virtually heat neutral. Paul has done away with heat neutrality though. You dont get neutral builds in MWO with ghost heat and non existent heat scale. The summoner, even stock, in this game, is hot.

Yen Lo Wang. Not a great idea for CW, but I love this mech anyway and add it in on drop decks for my own amusement mostly.

I dunno man. The YLW can carve through Stormcrows like a knife through butter. Just gotta twist.

Limited ammunition and there are units you might face that are extremely good shots, can take that arm off the first time you show it.

And, I'm a middling pilot. :)

Even though it's not exactly a "meta-'Mech", I love my Centurion "Verdandi". Thanks, PGI.

Most of my 'mechs are 'superstock' builds that don't work all that well. I have a handful of metamechs ... and I'm amazed at how 'easy mode' running those are compared to superstock.

The "mechs that I am bad in, but feel compelled to drive anyway", huh?

Top of that list is probably my Timberwolf. I think it's an example of a mech that does not pair with my play style. It is probably because a 'good' timber makes use of high laser alpha, which I still struggle to manage the heat for, and since my preferred manner of engagement is either SRM ambush (just doesn't feel right on a timber) or second line fire support, and it is hard to aim around allies with a timber because the hardpoints are still low, and the laser duration is so long. (that's probably my problem, laser duration).
I feel obligated to play my Timberwolf, since I paid $55 for the ala carte Invasion variant :D

Then there's my Dragon 1C. The first mech I purchased with CBills, I went full circle between buyers' remorse, and eventually loving the Dragon. While I have some good matches in it, ( a 1-3 kills, 700 damage match never surprises me) most of the time I die after about 200 damage. I play it as fire support, moving to the edges of our formation to suppress incoming flanks, or contributing to a team focused target, and while I probably help the team I seldom score high in it.
I feel obligated to play my Dragon out of comfort. It's boasted a 320XL engine for more than a year now, and I am very aware of it's handling, freeing up thought for what I want to do with it.

Last would be the Urbanmech. Pure fun mech that would never be expected to carry. I had never heard of an Urbanmech until April 1st, 2014, bought the collectors edition more as a show of support to PGI, and was pleasantly suprised with the humor of it. Again, I like to be fire support, and the Urbanmech's low profile, coupled with 360 torso twist means I'm able to aim at targets from behind the big guys without much problems. 0.49 KDR for the win

Although I haven't used one in MWO I know it would be the Mad Dog from past experience. For some reason I just love the looks of the Mad Dog - Vulture in Mechwarrior 4. I didn't play anything before Mechwarrior 4 so that is where I first encountered the Mad Dog. It looked like such a bad-*** mech and I remember praying I'd be able to use it the next mission - which I did.

Unfortunately the Mad Dog is a missile happy mech and that simply is not my play style. I couldn't use it for crap in previous Mechwarrior games I'm quite positive I wouldn't be very good with it now, although I think I'll probably wind up buying one just because I love the looks of them so much.

Statistically the Black Knight is my best mech which is alright because I love it. I wish it had JJ's and the hardpoints were better but I can live with it. Just from game time experience I gotta say my worst mech is the Firebrand. Same exact loadout in the Firebrand that I had in the JM6 (AC/40) and I've never been able to duplicate what I did in the JM6. No idea why that is. I'm also always afraid to use my Dragon Slayer.

But yeah, if I had to pick my favorite mech based purely on what I like - Mad Dog and I've always sucked with it.

For me, it would have to be the shadow cat. Not only did I love this mech when I played mechwarrior 3, but I also love the way it looks in the current mwo mechlab. I can hardly break 500 damage with it.

Commandos. . . I can do better in any other light mech, but I still see those little guys there and I can't resist Posted Image

I agree completely.... i had hoped the commando would find some life with information warfare but thats not to be.

Its sad but the game is not designed in a way that can correct for how art interacts with speed and skill based targeting.
The TT to FPS port is not complete and is lacking some major parts..... like armor co-factors that correct for the change in hit location frequencies form TT to FPS. not having that perverts the cost functions from TT.

AC20 Raven 4x...

I have two 4xs one for meta builds with DHS and a dedicated AC20 Raven with SHS. Yeah, turned out to be cheaper to own one with both than the swap between the two heat sink types.

For the longest time it was the Dragon.

It used to be good, bringing an AC10 and 4MPL at 106 kp/h with quite some armor. Now. Now its just sad. It dies so quickly its not fun to play. At all. I was forced to abandon it.

For a brief period of time, when the quirks were very favorable I ran 4xERLL on it. This was a devastating mech. I've never seen one with the same loadout. Bringing 36 alpha at up to about 800+ meters with the ability to chain fire almost indefinitely. Its speed allowed it to constantly keep a distance.

Now this is gone to.

I've sold my dragon.
